Not a bad DSM...Although I was never a big fan of the 2nd gen DSM's...I loved my 6 bolt 92 Eclipse GS that was a hell of a car to drive. Quick little bastage, especially after I swiss cheesed the air box....

You own a 420A? Don't you know you technically don't own a DSM? j/k (that's about what every 4G63 owner tells someone that owns a DSM that has a non-4G63 powerplant). Props for going through with the turbo 420A.
I own a 1g and 2g DSM, although I probably won't buy another one. I'm a bit confused in your first pic. Did you put pedal covers from a manual transmission car on your brake pedal? I see an auto, but it looks like you placed both the clutch and brake pedal covers over a auto brake pedal.

the 420a neon engine.... POS :/ i hope you didnt bolt that turbo to a turbo
LOL! What?!
I know that most 420a DSM guys that want big boost have to run top mounts. Notice he's running a log manifold. It's not the most efficient, but if you hampering for space it's a good way to mount a big turbo alongside a good wastegate. I'm seeing what looks to be a T3/T4 flange, but did you have to do a bit of hybrid work on that turbo? Anyway it goes, it looks like a clean install, other than the vented BOV.

OK, I'm never afraid to look stupid. What does DSM stand for?
Jim
Diamond Star Motors, a joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. The Three originals DSM's were the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, and Plymouth Laser.
I like the 1st gen cars, Turbo AWD and look nice. The guy I bought my Fiero from used the money towards a black 91 Talon, which immediately had catastrophic engine failure.

I love anything turbocharged! What kind of horsepower do you estimate that you are getting from your car? If that is a "neon engine" like someone said, is the 2.4l turbo motor from the SRT-4 a popular swap with those cars? I understand they handle well for a front driver, better with awd.

Anyway, thanks for posting.
the 420a is the engine that the like normal everyday pos 2.0l neon has.
from what i hear they cant handle much boost ~8lbs MAX.
the 4g63t that came in the 1st gen/2nd gen eclipses held boost very well, just the 2nd gen had a issue with crankwalk, the 1st gens are a more desirable, engine and ive seen them get around 400hp with all stock internals.

you are correct sir, 420a came in the neons, and are not crank walk proof..have a friend that walked the crank on his 420a motor....and if you try to call up JDM motors and get a 420a they have no idea what you are talking about...hence where i learned about that the 420a is a neon motor...
But sweet looking car none the less!

I hate the first gen of the talons and the eclipse but the 2nd gen was and still looks bad ass to me. I was looking at buying a talon last year when I came across my 92 300z and bought that in stead. The early 90's was a great time for sports cars...you would be amazed how many heads my 300z still put on a swivel when I drive by.
wow, there is alot of mis-information here. 1) the 420a doesnt have a MAF, therefore the BOV doesnt have to be recirculated 2)stock block 420'a can handle 15psi, the injectors just max out at 8psi 3) I have been in the dsm game foer a good while, and have neverseen, or heard of a 420a crankwalking 4)the engine on a neon is slightly different, the head is reversed, and the ones found on the dsm flow better, and somehow make 8bhp more (not much)
anyway, thanks for the complements, and yes this car has a stock bottom end.

i know a bit about the dsm motors, if i owned one, id swap in the 4g63t, all the fast guys use them for a reason...
hmmm, reminds me of my DSM i had in high school, 95 eclipse *cough* RS *cough*. fun little car even without the turbo and with the auto. oh well, high school girls sure liked it. i've always wanted to find a '98-ish GSX 5-speed that's in good condition but haven't had too much luck. either none left or the people with the good ones aren't getting rid of them.
nice car either way!!

There is no way to swap a 4g63 into a 2gnt. the motor mounts are different.
Totally untrue. Get rid of that neon engine and get a 4G63. The 420 is by no means crank walk proof. It is the prime example of crank walk. Its a pile of junk. It will explode. Get a real DSM. You have a 2 door neon with different bumpers. I had a 1991 GSX running 26 lbs. Never had a problem besides intercooler piping pooping off every once in a while. And the stock clutch slipping once boost started coming on til I swapped it out.
ok, tell me then whats required to swap in a 4g63, oh thats right, you have no clue. also, many ppeole have made plenty of power with thier 420a. all it takes is dedication.
