Colored socks make your feet stink I wear only white socks, at work I wear boots so you couldn’t see my socks even if I did wear dark ones. Even when I was in the service I would wear white socks with black socks over top of them. I just don’t like the dye they use in most of them. I also try to only wear leather shoes and boots, plastic will also make your feet stink If you ever get jungle rot on your toenails you will understand how important it is to keep your feet dry. I lost 3 nails to it in the service, they did grow back but now they are thicker and harder than the rest and every now and then they just fall off for no reason. So bottom line if you love your feet wrap them in some good white cotton socks and leather boots.

Yellow sock on left foot, red sock on right foot - because I have trouble remembering which way is left and right. Just kidding -!
White or grey sweat socks, over-the-calf because they're comfy, don't have to sort them (much) from the washload, and they can be bought almost anywhere. BTW, I nearly always wear boots, so the socks don't show - therefore don't look nerdy. When I'm not wearing boots, I'm wearing sneakers, so the sweat socks look fine.
Every once in a while if I'm invited to a wedding or something, I'll actually wear black (or dark blue) socks and dress shoes. I can't tell you right now where my non-white socks are, I'd have to hunt them down.

I wear white socks 98% of the time. I wear black sometimes in the winter time. I dont like colored socks cause they turn my feet whatever color the sock is. So basically if I wear red socks I'll have red feet.

Sorry, Nick. Ellies right this time. ( HELLO, isnt she right EVERY time?) An overwhelming preference for white socks among car nerds should have been your first clue. Do you want the correct answer, or the popular (here, anyway) answer? I grew up next to a tailor and learned how to dress well at an early age.

As a general rule, you should match your socks to your shoes in order to create a flawless visual from cuff to toe. It's all about ensuring a smooth transition between your pants, socks and shoes; it should be aesthetically pleasing, the same way you coordinate the exterior and interior of a car, for example. Matching your socks to your shoes is also a cost-effective solution given that men generally have two or three different shoes (hence colors) versus at least four different pairs of pants. For example, if you're wearing beige pants with brown shoes, you should wear a pair of regular brown, light brown or dark beige socks, or even a pair of patterned socks that blends any combination of these colors. Wearing socks in shades that complement your trousers and shoes will avoid any stark contrast between them and enhance your overall look.
Note: Keep in mind that your footwear (socks and shoes) should be darker than or the same tone as your top. So unless you're going to the gym or wearing white patent leather shoes with a white tux, there's no reason for you to wear white socks ever again. Following this rule alone will keep the fashion police off your tail more often than not.[QUOTE]

Just getting around to this thread. I don't try to make a fashion statement, I try to be comfortable and cheap. I buy the thick, white socks in the big packages, usually at Target or JC Penneys. I have a few pairs of black socks to wear with dark dress shoes and occasionally my black sneakers when I'm going somewhere the wife might care that I'm color coordinated. Other than that, just nice, thick, old white cotton for me.

We're supposed to wash them ? Then I would have to wash my feet I am not gonna lie to ya. I wear pink socks. At work. I work a manly man's job which has a community clothes washer. Seems some always like my socks better. Since I dyed them pink I have clean socks every day. You gatta do what you gotta do. Really, white socks, no socks (sandals), color co-ordinated for dress slacks.

I went Guerrilla. You know, jump in there and hit it, then get the hell out. Something went wrong. I woke up one day with a ring on my finger.
