Diva,
She's beautiful. Do it, if you can. She won't "replace" the one you lost, but she'll be a new friend. Timing is a weird thing. Had Misty not passed the day she did, we wouldn't have visited the shelter the day we did, and we might not (or might) have found Sunshine. As with all new friends, it took time, and the wonder of her adjusting to the new world she found herself in was muted (for me) by the loss that went before. But she grew up to be herself (as all dogs do) (an' people should). Had we not been there at that time, Sunshine might have had a very short, or bleak (or both) life.
There are those who would argue that she's adapted well:
Just an update..... Looks like we will be heading down to Missouri at the end of the month to pick up our new dog "Gracie" (thats what we are naming her) I cant wait
Isn't it amazing how people think of their animal friends,I don't say pets because they are more than that.it doesn't matter if they are small or big, beautiful or ugly. They are our friends no matter what!I have a beautiful Shepard female named Ginger that means as much as my kids to me,maybe more because she is dependent on me and my wife for all that is necessary to have a decent life.I can see in her eyes that she loves me and that love is unquestionable(if that is a word).I am retired(I think)and because of her Joan and I have bought a motor home so there is no doubt she will go with us when we do any traveling. We are her mom and dad,and that is how we feel.We wouldn't leave any of our kids home and we won't leave her!

Here's my two best buddies! Moses (the white dog), is a 4lb. male Maltese, 8yrs. old, and thinks he's a Rottweiler. Mollie is my little 2yr. old, 4lb. Yorkie girl. Little dogs are cool. It's like always having a puppie!

I didn't really want a dog so we rent them. I never liked having to bid farewell to a dog. It's just too hard. Actually my wife and daughter are puppy raisers for seeing eye dogs. We get them when they are young, train them for house manners, then send them off to "college", where the more intense seeing eye training is learned. http://cdc.guidingeyes.org/bin/homepage So far we've had three dogs; Irwin, Wadsworth and now Mike. They become part of the family for awhile then are gone to be replaced by a new puppy. We always get reports of how thy are doing in the field and it's a great community of people. Irwin '04 Wadsworth '05 Mike Now

She is beautiful!! Well done, and congratulations!! Errr..don't try to fatten her up all at once..because when she gets to the correct weight, she will go on expecting extra helpings at dinnertime for ever!! Still grinning, FieroDiva...more so now!! Thanks for sharing. And Trevor, that is a lovely pup too!! Good luck!! Nick
Great lookin dogs on here! It's so true how these animals have become more than just pets, I know I would be devastated losing one of mine. Here's our two dogs Tucker (left) and Dodger. Tucker's a 3yr old Golden retriever/yellow lab mix and Dodger is a pure bred golden. At 10, Dodger's the wise old man of the house Couldn't ask for a better pair of pals to stick at my side!
Tucker is my hunting buddy, he's quite good outdoors. Dodger on the other hand is a big teddy bear. He wouldnt hurt a soul.
Keep the pictures coming, this thread is a joy to look at!

Will do 1Mohr, Spenser looks like he was a beautiful dog! My condolences, I'm sure it was hard after 12 years. It's hard losing someone who never had hate towards anyone and only meant good. Dodger's sister was a red just like Spenser, I really like that color coat! Sadly, I think Dodger's fate will be the same. He already has a large cyst forming, and at 10 years old, it's hard to justify putting him through any more surgeries.

My Inga died a couple months ago from sudden liver cancer at 9 1/2 years. She'll be missed.
And her replacement, whom I have not yet named (I want something Russian). I got her about 2 weeks ago and she's turning out to have a perfect personality-- very much like Inga was at her age. I sure can pick 'em!
Her ears point up now and she's lost the gray in the eyes mostly. She's heavier by a pound a day, I swear, and she's smarter by the minute.
And here's a sketch I made of a dog -- just for fun.

This is the only pic I have of my dog Chance. I adopted him after he was beat up as a puppy. This was a pic of him at 5 months. He is now at another house because I couldn't keep him. He is a happy dog, took him a long time to trust anyone, now he wants loving from everyone. He is a Yellow Lab/Chow
Yeah I know not the best pic. and the background is phohochopped

This is Maggie, helping me install a new headunit in the Fiero. Unfortunately, we had to find her another home because she and Cookie both wanted to be "top dog". The trainer that took her said that she is showing signs of being able to detect seizures in people that might be affected.

This is Blackjack, a cocker mix I rescued from the animal shelter about 6 years ago. During the summer, the yard was filled with that white fuzzy stuff that comes off of trees. It stuck to him like velcro and it looked more like suds!
