I've had my eye on this sweetass pine tree air freshener at Autozone for a couple months now.

I e-mailed the president of Autozone and told him about our forum, and how much i like that air freshener.

He said that if i do all the leg work to sell 600 of them to forum members, he'll give them to us for 89 cents instead of the usual 99 cents!!!!! that's over 10% off!!!!

So come on guys, tell your friends!! they make great father's day gifts! Maybe we can all chip in and get one for Cliff!!!!

Will this "pine tree air freshener" thing work with my Jeep Cherokee and my girlfriends honda, as well as it supposedly does for a Fiero?

If so, put me down for at least 3! I will ask people at work if they are interested in one, also.

If you can do the deal Ill take 2 Red, 4 Green, 1 Purple and....lets see.....1 Blue.
But first I have a few questions.

1. Will these be the jumbo or standard size?

2. Are they the string or elastic hanger type?

3. Will they effect my field of vision while driving (Therefor effecting my performance)?

4. Are they rated for long life when open or will I have to leave the plastic bag hanging half off of it?

These are a few concerns I have before I make a comitment like this.

glad y'all enjoyed that.

Now here's a true story that i thought was hilarious, but maybe you had to be there:

I worked at Autozone for a little while during college. We had a rack of air fresheners on the register counter, and one of them said "JESUS" on it and had a picture of him.
I was ringing up an old dude's purchase one night, when he saw the Jesus freshener and and smiled. Here is the ensuing conversation between us:
O.D.: Hey, look at that. (inquisitively)I wonder what it smell like?
Me: I don't know. I haven't smelled one.
[it didn't say on the package either]
O.D.: (placing it on the counter) Well, hope it don't stank.
Me: Probably won't.
O.D.: (with a big grin) Well, if it do, i guess i was meant to smell somethin' stanky!

Made my night.

I seriously can't afford it. I save my allowance and buy a big can of that aerosol spray you put in the bathroom. It fits perfectly behind the drivers seat.

A spray a day is all it takes.

before I commit to this expensive purchase I need to know - how do I get the pine tree in my car without getting the needles all over the dash, seats and carpet?? I am seriously going to have to think about all of this before deciding to make any mods to my car (i.e. bigger sunroof) in order to accomodate the pine tree...........

How do we know this is a genuine Pine Tree Air Freshener, and not one that's been cut and modified to fit a Fiero?
If it has been modified, will it work as advertised, and will the manufacturer back it up?
Can I get one for a Grand Am from Summit for less?
Is there a better brand besides this for Fieros?

Just kidding...I had to ask...

My wife called me and told me she had a little incident. So I went to see if she was ok. She said she was driving along when out of nowhere a tree popped up, she swerved to miss it, then another tree popped up, she swerved the other way, then another tree popped up and she swerved again missed it. Finally she got the car stopped, bogged down in a ditch. I said honey, but there are no trees for five miles. I looked inside her car, and I said honey,,,,,,that was your pine tree air freshener.

2birds,

I just finished my Pine Tree Air Freshener swap using one from a 90 Grand Am. Let me know if you want the details. It's not too bad. The string needs to be shortened a bit and a little trimmed off the bottom.

after seeing everyone's interest in the Pine Tree Airfreshener... I decided to start manufactureing these, myself, and sell them to the Fiero community!

yesterday, i purchased a new machine to make these. i am closing on a new building, monday, to make these air freshner's in. my cost, so far, are as follows:

machine... $73,000.00
misc. packaging and handling equipment.. $38,000.
new building... $175,000
building refit... $17,500
office equipment. $5700
total spent: $271,200

this doesn't include a staff... one person to run the machine, one to feed it and one to pack and inspect. There needs to be one for shipping and one office person to begin with. Thats 5 people, plus a sales staff.

Man, am I excited!

Can't wait to get my first order!

I will be your first costumer if you can answer a few questions.

1. Does the standard tree include a string? If so is it a solid color or can I get a 2-tone string?

2. Can these trees of yours be used with others? You know... like hanging them on the mirror next to 20 others that have lost their smell.

3. Is the string elastic?

4. If I were to buy one, is there a 30 day money back guarantee?

5. If for some reason the tree were to burst into flames, would you replace it?

6. Are they available with polka dots?

7. Will you be able to beat your competitors price?

8. And finally... are they available with scoops?

ok bHooper, i'll take one (this does come with a three year unconditional guarantee against loss of fragrance, right?) -- wait, maybe i'll take two, one for the front seat and one for the back seat. I'm also assuming that you will accept my promise to pay upon the completion of the one year trial period without requiring a letter from Congress, a blessing by the Pope and the giving up of my first born..........

If I am correct in my assumptions, I will gladly pay $.45 plus shipping and handling of $13,481.29 to cover the costs in full.

If not, tell me exactly what will cover the costs associated with such a quantity......

No, the 88 pine tree air freshener (with the Lotus designed string), mounts differently from the mirror. They are more difficult to find.

And dang if Autozone didn't figure out that I was returning a Fiero pine tree air freshener core after my Beretta swap. Great, now I'm out $1.50 in core charges. I should have left it greasy.

With 30 posts, do we finally get a flame?

You can always pour some Brut (by Faberge, of course) or Old Spice down the vents, too.

Has anybody checked the archives to make sure we didn't just waste a bunch of space rehashing an old (but important) topic?

Nope, still 5MB of disk space left and nothing in the archives.

Ok. I'm done, this has been one of the best threads I've seen in a long time. I needed some chuckles and you folks delivered.

Haze, I saw your auction, I have questions, If I wanted the color changed would it still look stock? Or would I have to find an 87 for the blue one? Can the aroma be recharged by me or does it have to be taken to a shop and done by a licensed EPA aroma technician?

Oreif I may be speaking out of turn here but I think you can have any color you want but it will have to be taken to a lumber mill or cabnitry shop and prepped first -- what I wonder is, which would look better, a monochrome tree in the style of the '88 or one with the grey ground effects? I realize that trees have green and brown ground effects but I personally like the grey better.

What this also makes me wonder too is if it is possible to have a T-Top tree or do we simply rely on one with a star on top and colored blinking lights which can only be driven in December?

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
If you want to swap your notchback tree for the smoother looking lines of the triangular fasback tree you cannot use the notchback string! You MUST use the fastback string. The 3oz weight difference between the two can break the notchback string with disasterous consiquences. Fortunately for those who can't find one of the discontinued fastback strings, I sell conversion strings that are produced with the original tooling.
For more information, or to purchase the conversion string among many other pine tree air freshener accesories, visit my website site at www.pinetreeairfreshnerconversions.net/fiero

Warning, RECALL NOTICE-if you have purchased and/or are currently using a Pontiac Fiero Pine Tree Air Freshener,Nitros Oxide sent #4 with Ser. #'s-435432-697064 . STOP USE IMMEDIATELY AND RETURN TO YOUR AUTHORIZED FIERO PINE TREE AIR FRESHENER DEALER!!!!

Studies have shown that improper mounting of the said pine tree air freshener can cause extreme preformance increases. It has been discovered that placing the said fiero pine tree air freshener into or around the engine intake grate produces the same effects as a 80 hp shoot of NOS. This practice has lead to several reports of Fieros out-running Corvettes and a few rumors of Viper slayings. If you are participating in this practice stop use and return to dealer for a less powerful air freshener.
