Spark plug wire layout is key in my opinion. Custom-length wires allow for nice, organized layouts with little criss-crossing. The engine is dirty here, I know...

You and I have about the same tastes in hopped up Fieros. Why do'nt we do a point by point comparisonof our 3.4 DOHC Turbo's and 3800 SC's. It could be interesting.
Regards,
David

I agree. Too often the "generic" wire sets have some that are way too long and get draped all over places they don't belong. I once saw a car in the junkyard and its distributor-to-coil wire was so long someone had tied it in a loose knot to take up slack.
That car was a hack job in many ways. Evidently someone didn't want to fool around with the wiring "bundle" that's tucked up above the valve cover, so they just chopped the wires and spliced them in a more-accessible location below the valve cover. Nothing says quality like a dozen or so crimp-on splices all in one highly visible location.
Also, one thing I hate is colored wiring loom. Are your vacuum lines, throttle-body coolant lines, throttle and cruise control cables, fuel lines, and wiring really such things of beauty that you need to call attention to them with yellow, red or chrome wiring loom? Turns out black is probably best for stuff like that.

While my engine compartment may not be exactly "pretty", I think it looks a little less ugly than it would be otherwise.
I cleaned up some of the wire/cable clutter, and hid the C500 and power distribution block under the oil cooler. I also got rid of the nasty fiberglass insulation.
I also agree that it's best to "camouflage" wiring bundles, hoses, and cables. If they stand out from the rest of the engine, it adds to the visual clutter.

The empty engine bay and the engine going into it. It is NOT a corvette. It is an ls4. We're trying to find out how to change corvette to pontiac and ls3 to ls4 turbo.

Oh jeeze, here I've been feeling really good the past couple of days because the guy at the smog place (I passed) said I had the cleanest Fiero engine bay he has seen in a long time.
And then I have to go and look at these works of art. Now I'm all deflated and ordinary feeling.
Someday my engine bay will be that nice. But, I've only had the car for about 18 months so I guess it's not that bad.

I am lovin' it... !! It is just such a nice ballsy but smooth motor... Cruises with no effort and absolutely screams when I put a foot into it... Been very reliable and the "shakedown" went really well.. A couple of minor issues. One is an AC leak that I won't fix till summer... the other is a tweak on the "manual" position linkage. Once the weather gets better...
As some may remember I have no mufflers and in their place two Magnaflow short cats... I love the sound... In fact, cruising at 70 it sounds a lot like a cruising boat! LOL
Certainly warms up the feel a lot, much like an old heavy muscle car in a sporty, yet well behaved and great handling package.
Thanks for asking... It is still winter and I can't wait to get her out from under the cover and get driving her again... Don... nice engine bay pic!! Looks like you did some more "flitzing?"
Jeff
