I'm looking for the black stuff you find (and usually rip out) under the hood of most cars, and the stuff the Fiero had on the firewall and strut towers from the factory. Does anyone sell it in rolls? Is there something out there that is similar? Not interested in the shiny stuff, I want something that looks more like the factory stuff. Searched all over the net and all I could find was the shiny stuff or pre-cut sets for restoring old cars.

Thanks!

I'm at the same stage on my car. Here's an informative link:

Click here for link to engine insulation thread

You can use the "Search" function and look at "Engine Compartment".

Thanks for the link, but Ias I said in my first post, I am NOT interested in the foil stuff. I want the black factory looking stuff, or something similar. Can the foil stuff be painted? I do not like the look of the shiny stuff.

If you paint the shiny stuff it will no longer reflect radiant heat and more heat will pass through. Maybe you could double up and compensate for that loss.

You may want to look in to "Lizard Skin." It is a fair priced spray that is INCREDIBLE for temp insulation as well as sound insulation.

Would this stand well on a Fiero firewall?

Yes...
However, Dynamat is quite expensive...

That's true, Dynamat can be expensive but you can get a roll of Dynaliner from eBay for $60-$70. One roll will do the entire firewall (based off of rough measurements). Just another alternative to the foil stuff.
