As shown in the image, I have no idea what this red button is or does. Did this even come in Fiero's or just something maybe a previous owner put in. And I know my car is dirty at the moment.

Something the PO did. Just take the plate off right there and see where the wires go.

I wired a garage door opener on my red 88 GT years ago, with a button very much like that in nearly the same position.

I second that!
It could possibly be one of the ultra-rare dealer installed ejector seats!

Possibly, but that had a different button to it. This looks to be the self-destruct option installed by GM's bean counters.

The paint on that looks familair... I could have sworn I've seen that car posted on the forum by it's owner at one time. It didn't have any of the KITT stuff then though.

Does your Fiero have an alarm? If it does, I would think the button is an over ride and the toggle is a valet switch.

If you lose the remote, you can turn the ignition to ON and push the button to kill the alarm.

The valet switch will disable the automatic arm (like when valet parks your car).

Really stupid place to put both of those, if that's what they are.

A few Fieros ago I mounted a switch there to manually control the rad fan.

Yours though... you've probably now activated a homing beacon for the aliens...

Since you recently aquired this vehicle....

The red button activates the "trunk monkey".

If it doesn't work, the monkey was stolen by PO

Hope this helps..
