I can grab a sd4 for 200 bucks. I am looking at it on Tuesday. The engine has NO vin according to the guy (raises a flag). Anyways. I have been sent pics and its is a sd4 and i can get the whole car for 500 bucks. It turns over but does not fire. I am going to do a comp test and some other "is this a good engine" tests. I was wondering if i get some numbers of the body and the engine if someone could run them. Im not going to buy stolen anything. If its clean I am going to hawk my camera and grab it. I will then clean it up and sell it.

I am not sure how an SD4 would have a VIN in the first place... they were never a factory option and were always race engines. What car would it be tied to?

Look CAREFULLY at the engine to make sure it's really an SD4, 99% chance it's just a duke.

Here's an SD4 block:

I'd gladly pay $200 for just the block.

They don't have VIN's because they never came in any cars.

If its really an SD4 it WON'T have a VIN. They weren't in any cars off the line. Even if it is in need of major overhaul, buy it, I have a use for it.

Really? And you have contributed soooo much to this forum? PK may not have a grasp of the English language, and he may be putting a duke into the IMSA, but at least he getting the car on the road. If you read his thread, you will see that he is doing all that he can, with what he has.

So there you go Jay.....

Here's an SD4 block:

Based on closer inspection of the SD4 engine block picture which RWDPLZ posted above, it appears that one method to use in determining whether or not the block is a "Super Duty" may be the simple expedient of looking for the raised lettering near the bottom of the block which spells out "SUPER DUTY" in caps.

That was in reference to Tyler's Toy. So basically he wishes he would get brain cancer so the community would come fix up his car... yeah not sorry to see him go.

Back to topic, I'm sure PK would pay whatever he could for a SD4 if you get it Tuzzi.

***EDIT*** Or, you could mercilessly tease him that you have one and he doesn't. I see either one as a win/win.

I'd be thinkin about it.. i sure as hell would love to have an SD4 back into my IMSA. Kris we will talk about this if it is a true SD4. 10speeder also had an 85 IMSA. i dont know the details on it but he said it looked like mine. Dont know who his pannels were done by though.

Lol and he can teash me all he wants... SD4 dosent mena nothing without the IMSA

Like I said. It is a sd. I was sent pics of the raised letering on the block, and from how he described the upper deck it is a sd. I was just wondering if it had a vin or casting number. Im not going to say which car its tied to. Like I said. If everything is legit I am going to get it. I will then post tons of cell phone pics and post it in the mall.

Got more info. His dad bought at a auction back in 93. The car was never road legal and was only used on a track and went to a couple shows. The reason it is parked is because he off track and ripped the control arm out from under it. From what i have gathered the body is not a imsa but looks to be a ppg car (looks like rare66's avatar). I will take pics when i go see it.

So 87antuzzi, this would be a good time to invest a little cash, and then flip it right away and make some bucks.

I know I would, and I assume you prob would like to hold on to something like that HOWEVER I hear you have been kinda scraping and this would be a great way to get ahead.

Keep it and it kinda becomes a burden right? I just know that what tends to happen to me when I get in a situation like that.

idk, just a thought. If you do buy it, of course it's yours to do with how you please.

Just if you flip it, make sure you get what it's worth! What it's worth has no relationship to what you paid for it.

I'm pretty sure thats the plan. Kris needs a car of his own in good condition that he can trust to get him to work every day. Hopefully buying and flipping the SD4 will do that. I'm going to go with him when he looks at the engine and whatever else this guy has laying around and I'll try to remember to bring my camera and take some pictures.

It will be interesting to see exactly what you have. Kris, shoot me some pics and I just might be able to help you out in determining what you are looking at. All of the PPG Fieros built have been documented and accounted for.
