I don't yet own a Fiero, but I really like them. I recently came into a little cash and thought I would look into getting one. The trouble is that I'm 6' 5" and I don't know if I'd even be able to fit. I can't seem to find any locally to try to sit in one (I'm in rural NM so everything is far away). The closest one is a 5-hour round-trip away.
Any tall Fiero owners out there like to comment? How tall are you and how much room do you have (head room and leg room are my main concerns)?

Yes, sideways. Actually my son-in-law is well over 6' and fits fine, though he does hate it when short lil me leaves the seat forward and he just jumps in.
Hey welcome to the forum. I may not be the tallest fiero owner, but at 6'3" and 225 lbs. I fit in my fiero with out any problems. If I place my seat all the way back I can't push the clutch far enough to engage it. And in my normal driving position I have plenty of headroom. My legs fit comfortably and my knees aren't in my chest or near the lower part of the dash. I can go on very long road trips with out feeling cramped. All in all I am very pleased with how well I can fit in such a small car. I would even venture to say that it may be easier to fit in a Fiero than in a C4 Corvette or a Ferrari and I have driven both.

Yes, hope to see more NM people chime in. Thanks for the offer. That at least reduces it to 3-hour round-trip. Do you know of any for sale in the ABQ area? I've been checking Craigslist, autotrader, ebay and cars.com There was one garage queen '88 Formula for $6K, but the ad expired and I haven't seen it reposted.

My oldest boy is 6'6" and weighs 290 - plays college football and fits just fine. He drove a fiero all through high school. He was 6'4" and weighed 260 as a Sophomore. I say go for it. You can always take the seat adjusters out and bolt the seat right to the floor for a little more headroom. Theres plenty of leg room.....
Pat
Edit to add: It was funny as hell to see that big boy get out of that tiny car.......

lil advice for ya if you get one go for an 88 best bang for your buck.
Yes, I've been reading up on them. 88 seems to be the consensus for best year. Is it all 88's or just the GT's (or Formulas, etc.)?

Thanks. My current "addiction" is a '96 LT1 Caprice (modded with some Impala SS styling cues...but not a clone). Those are great cars for anyone who needs to haul a family (and still haul a**). They can tow up to 5000 lbs too (it doubles as my camper towing vehicle). Here's a pic:

For a nice car, I'll go as high as $7K. While I was browsing, I saw a yellow one in Raleigh, NC for $4K that had a 3800SC in it. That would be sweet! Many years back, here where I live, I was behind one that had an "LT1 Inside" sticker (looked like the "Intel Inside" sticker on computers).

There's an 86 in Lubbock that has a 2.8 turbo and comes with a 3.1 stroker motor plus a bunch of parts for 3500.00 It's in the Mall. It's a nice car and has a lot of upgrades.
Have you ever seen the XTC/GT? Ask Carver1 I think he has some pics of one. Doh///he beat me too it.
There's a guy here in El Paso you might talk into selling his 88 with a 4.9 caddy V8 in it. It's a sweet car too - I have driven it!

Thanks for all the replys, guys. This is a very helpful, friendly forum. (Not like those lying, scheming Caprice guys... no, not really, they're great too). It looks like height won't be a problem then.

I'll be home this weekend if you wanna try it out. It is all stock inside, so the headroom and everything will be the same as a stocker. I'm going to swing by katatak's place on my way home and steal his Formula. (Shhhh. don't tell him)

New Mexico Nebie, I can attest to the room built into the Fiero. I'm 6'-2" @ 195. I fit more than perfect. As a matter of fact, I've owned a '85 Vette and a '82 Ferrari, guess what?: I fit in the Fiero with more ease! I have even slept overnight in the car It is a wonder they were able to engineer in so much room. Good ol' GM.
Cordially, Kevin

Peeking out my window on the lookout for a truck pulling a trailer - crap - I won't sleep tonight!

Thanks, I may take you up on trying it. I'm not really loving the XTC look, so I don't think I'd be interested in buying it, however.

Didn't read all the posts, but just wanted to say that I'm 6'4", and I've owned 11 of them... mattwa is 6'5" and he has one... My father is 6'5", ~320lbs, a shear tree-trunk of a man, and he can fit comfortably in one on the passenger's side. Ingress/egress is a little difficult for him, and the driver's side is a little tight, but he has driven some of mine in the past. -Paul
There are lots of Fiero's for sale in Colorado if you want to go that far. http://denver.craigslist.or...inAsk=min&maxAsk=max We have a some listed on our club site sometimes, if you see one you like look us up.
That one is actually only 45 minutes away, but I think he's on vacation or something, or possibly in jail. I've been trying to reach the guy for the past 5 days, but he never answers phone (phone number is in his autotrader ad) or email.

Welcome to the forum. I am 6' 3" and drive a fiero every day. My dad is 6' 7" and also has a fiero for a daily driver. I built his a non sunroof car so he would have the extra headroom. It seems backwards but the non sunroof has more headroom. The headlined is concave in the non sunroof cars but the sunroof car has a head liner that is more flat. With the seat all of the way back you head is actually rear of the glass and is under the flat part of the headliner. Once you sit in one you will under stand. But be sure to try it both ways. On a side note they are compatibale either way. ( You can change the car from one to the other with bolt on parts.)
When you get your Fiero maybe you and the other NM Fiero people can come to Colorado for the event of the summer in Gunnison it is a good time. This picture of MileHighFiero (Jamison) is in Gunnison last year for the Gunnison car show. It is a three day event with a Friday night street party, Saturday car show and poker run, and a cruise to Crested butte on Sunday.
Thanks, sounds fun. Now, if I find a good car before then ...

Your post didn't make any sense to me until that last sentence. I'm 6'3" and I find a non-sunroof Fiero a little claustrophobic. Just kidding (sort of), but I find the headroom more comfortable in a sunroof equipped Fiero. I believe the reason you and I have a different perspective on this is that I do not have "the seat all of the way back". I actually find my legs aren't quite long enough to drive comfortably if the seat is too far back. Therefore, my head is located below the glass part of the roof, where there actually is a little bit of extra headroom.
I guess there's more to it than just overall height when it comes to discussing how well we fit in these cars.

6'4" 230 and fit perfectly with the seat all the way back. the only thing i notice is that my left knee sometimes hit the left bottom of the dash when i shift.
