Ok, I did a search, couldn't find what I wanna see. I'm not looking for advice or anything, I just want to see all the best stereo systems in Fieros. Not interested in stock stereos with replacement speakers. I want to see the high quality sound systems that you guys have put your hard work and hard earned money into. Pics and specs, as much as possible. Thanks!

Alpine is sweet!! I just picked up this one.... it is an alpine and it has the CD, USB front inputs for a flash or thumb drive, an aux input in the face, and it even has a very nice working bluetooth onboard. Gotta tell ya that driving a stick fiero this is an invaluable feature. I can access my entire phone book, recent calls missed calls, and the sound quality is just awesome. My car has some factory sized pioneer speakers in the rear and stock up front right now but I am gonna be replacing them soon. I have yet to install a sub but that is just because I have not figured out the best way I like to do it yet. I got the head unit from Crutchfield, it is one of their signature line and it was not that expensive at all. Has full amp outputs and a remote is available but I did not think I would need it in the fiero. I REALLY like the USB input. I have an 8gb flash drive and I have tons of music and it all plays nice and clear without skipping and the best part is the alpine has two red color schemes to match the fiero interior lighting. One is all REd and one is mostly red with the large buttons in a red orange color that really matches the fiero instrumentation. I highly recommend the install wiring harness, I actually sodlered everything up and installed shrink wrap in the house and took it out and plugged it into the car in less than an hour.... Had a lot of nice head units over the years including several kenwoods, pioneers, sony's, even an eclipse and a clarion. This is one of the nicest Hu's I have had. Clean and simple design yet capable and feature packed.... Here is a link.... http://signature.crutchfiel...e-CDE-103BT.html?c=3

The box I built was originally designed for an 8" sub. I stretched the sizes a little, making it more difficult to install and fit properly.. The volume of the box is .38 Cubic Feet, and I have it stuffed with poly fill to absorb standing waves. Works quite nicely and provides a solid steady bass with no flutter sound from the sub.
The CDA-9887 was the Flagship CD deck for Alpine in 2008. 24 Bit Burr Brown D/A converter, and full Digital Signal Processing, including time delay on a speaker by speaker basis, full Parametric EQ, etc etc.. http://signature.crutchfiel...earch=cda-9887&ssi=0
I also have the Imprint interface with the tuning software. Plug it into your deck, hook the mic up, and connect the USB port to the PC. Then stand back and run the software. Move the mic when it asks, and it will run the tuning from up to 6 locations to fine tune the audio range for each speaker, each location, and speaker distance.
When finished, the sound stage sounds about 7 feet in front of the windshield, and the audio system is tuned specifically to the vehicle to give the best range. A live performance SOUNDS like a live performance, and the sound quality is phenomenal.

Sounds like a great gig. Do you know of any in-dash gps receivers with that technology? I'd like GPS, but it has to be an integrated product, I HATE HATE HATE the windshield mounted ones. Anyways, nice setup, I'm jealous. I'm hoping more people will post so this turns into kind of a reference point for stereos. It seems like the final frontier for the Fiero community. People are doing body swaps, engine swaps, interior swaps, turbos, stretches, chops, coffee makers, widebodies, everything under the sun, but very few stereos that I'd call high end.

Alpine has the market cornered on the "Auto-Tune" stereos... Although really high end like Eclipse may do it..
Nothing with integrated GPS that I am aware of. You can do a high end CarPC that would have the features you want.

I've been slowly upgrading my '84 2M4 as well....has anyone every tried doing a custom sub box up front in place of the spare? I think a good sized 12 or even a 15 might fit, but I don't know if you would even hear it in the passenger compartment....just thinkin' out loud.

Yes, people have done that. They run a port through the passenger foot well. Doesn't sound bad from what I understand... Not my particular taste though.
The BEST system you can have is one you get to use. I go with cheap crap that no one will steal. If you do want higher end stuff, go with one of the units that completely hide like under the seats, in the trunk or inside the dash where it wont be stolen. They have a remote to work everything. I see a lot of street rods using them now. THEN and MOST IMPORTANT...keep it to yourself and dont go around broadcasting what you have and where you hid it.... LOve the idiot ricers with $5000 video and sound system all playing at a car cruise. You see them next week and its all been ripped out, lol. GEE, wonder why ?

Oh, I want to post soo bad! How about a text version?
Custom interior to maximize the following: Pioneer AVIC Z-3 CD/DVD/30g library/Nav A/D/S amps Audison BitOne Audison tweeters A/D/S PX 5.5" woofers w/ PX crossovers (I have a set on Ebay now, but they were $2400 back in the day) Custom front mount sub enclosure ported into the passanger side floorboard w/ Fosgate T110 sub up front.
Tuned for SQL. Very few have heard, and the sub bass fills the compartment (shockingly quiet outside the car to be considerate to fellow drivers)

again, I don't mean to sound negative at all--I'm just looking at options...

Awesome replies everyone..RG, I had my walmart special stereo ripped out years ago, so even they aren't safe. FieroGTguy...get pics asap. Also, does the 30gig library mean that the AVIC can control a HDD?

I made the box that way in order to kind of hide it from view and to lose the least amount of footwell space.
A Rockford purchased enclosure does not fit very well in the footwell. You will lose half of the space because the box will not tuck into the back very well. If you want to put in a sub and have it seen, I would recommend the center console box with a 8" or 10" sub in it.
I like it when peeps do it this way. looks good and more professional.
Has to look custom and enclosed for me.. I did it in my truck too. I plan to do the Fiero the same way.
Here's my truck -- BOLTED DOWN AND STEAL PROOF
-----------------
So far in the Fiero I have Infinity Kappa 4x6 and 4" seperates
My headunit is old school Sony with an "older" school XM8KII EQ and I have a aux input for my ipod
I plan to use •Memphis 16PR1x500 amp for a 6W3V3 JL sub under the dash •Memphis 16PR1x1000 amp for a 13TW5 JL shallow sub for behind my seat •Stinger Ferit cap •Stinger distribution and fuse blocks • I already have started with Kicker wire for all the speakers - Both 16 and 12 gauge. I need the 4 and 8 gauge power and ground leads
All the amps and cap will go behind the passenger seat. Built in custom the way I like it.

Yes, it has an internal HDD that records CD's that you play as you listen. No need to have your CD's stolen with your system.
I know of someone here that recently took some pics... Perhaps he'll share? My PIP has an issue with my Vista where it only works once after install, but isn't able to reopen after a restart. Is there a fix for that?

I just re-installed PIP.
Here was part of the install process with Pioneer premier 5.25" speakers.

Ferrari used to have a good theft deterrent. When you turned off the car, a piece of armor plate closes down and locks into the dash. Its still possible to get it open, but you destroy the radio doing it. You need things like hammers and pry bars or plasma cutter.
Bolting things down dont make it theftproof, just makes it so they have to do more damage to get it
Just yesterday a body shop guy I know told me a good one. A few years ago a customer was supposed to leave her new Bonneville at his shop for repairs. He lives in a REALLY bad part of the city. He told her to call first to make sure he was there so he could bring it right inside. He says he told her DO NOT LEAVE it outside under any circumstances. He came back on monday to find a note in the door that she couldnt find him, but left the car anyway. He called her then to tell her the car was sitting there on its side in the parking lot with no interior, no wheels, no motor or transmission.
On the contrary... My truck was broken in twice... "NOTHING" was stolen except my CDs. You could see where they tried to get the box, battery and amps but gave up in the process. Nothing was damaged. Now what do you say... I'd say think like a thief. build to stop them! Professional strippers are different from the normal punks.

I wanted a good stock looking system: 1. Stock head unit 2. In line converter (crappy quality -> good quality) and it also has a aux in so I can plug in my mp3 3. Orion amp 4. amped memphis front speakers 5. 10" shallow mount memphis behind passsanger seat 6. non powered, might as well be stock, rear speakers ( vast majority of volume comes from front)
Ill get some pics up asap

If you want the best sounding system then skip buying the best or most expensive.
you start with.... remove most of the interior and install dynamat or sound deadening EVERYWHERE you can.
If you do that, even a crap-quality "dual" brand from walmart will sound better than a $890.00 Poineer or other overpriced brand head unit will. You gotta make the interior quiet first. This is the biggest mistake almost every self install makes, they dont add any sound deadening to the interior. Yes even under the carpet makes a huge difference. Even the lowest end sound deadener will make a huge difference in the Fiero.
Ask anyone that has won any car stereo competitions, you gotta deaden the car first.
That's the truth.... In my truck... Instead of Dynomat, I used truck bed liner spray. 4 cans at least. No vibration rattles and I could see my roof bow 1/2" or so with bass... Worked like a charm... I'm not there yet but definitely plan to do the Fiero.
--- It kept the weight down too

Yes, use Dynamat, but remember it's just a brand name.
I actually recommend: Secondskinaudio.com Damplifier, or Damplifier Pro (much cheaper, and the guy is much more knowledgeable and will walk you through a shopping list and an install)
If you want to go cheaper: RAAmat (either BXT, or their 2nd gen product)
Cheapest: "Frost King" from Lowes, Home Depot, etc.
(they're sorted from best to worst solution.)
Dynamat is actually a bit worse than Damplifer, but more expensive, so you do the math.
Usually at least 1 product, but I suggest following up with a "closed cell foam" for the top layer will do more of a difference than a top-of-the-line stereo.
There are several high end car audio forums around for some great tips and information.

A speaker in the spare tire well ????????? Seems that sure would muffle out any decent sound. All that seems it would do to me, is make loose parts on the car rattle. Nothing to me in a car is more annoying that a squeak or rattle that wont stop. And bolted down, that would just make my organs vibrate inside me making me nauseous. When I do have my radio on, I turn up all the treble and kill all the bass. Much more relaxing.

Vibration from bass "massages"..... I LOVE IT... Back in the day in another car of mine.. Same speakers as the truck, POUNDING with "all" sound frequencies- concert quality, I would be bad but then listen to a bass CD... OH MY.. Let me tell yah. I never felt so relaxed. The bass would hit every part of the seat depending on the tone...
