Long term: Ecotec 2.4VVT, GT2850 turbo, aftermarket ECM, made adapter plate to Quad 4 gertrag, into '88 T-Top Fino - have all the parts - not really started yet.

Short term, 3.4 DOHC SFI into '88 DD - bought this when it was apparent I wouldn't get to the Fino for a year or two. Hope to work this into the list at the end of summer.

Yessir

Shopping around to find some nice headers for it at the moment, in the future I plan to switch up to a fuel injected system (TPI maybe)

Long runner TPI is sort of an antithesis to a short-stroke, rev-happy 327, which does in fact need the torque boost the TPI provides, but then you're better off to do a stroker 305 for 334 cubes. A TPiS Mini-Ram would be okay, and legal. The Weiand Stealth-Ram isn't legal, but is much cheaper. Neither builds much torque, but both are fine for upper rpm horses.

Keep it simple...TBI. Holley pro-jection. Or the setup from a 88-92 gm pickup with a holley throttle body. Plenty of torque and with the holley throttle body on top it'll breathe fine up high too. Of course, I'm a cheap skate...hehehe

I want to get her in the car first and drive it for the summer, then when the rains come i'll figure something out.

I hope gas prices go down Lol!

EDIT:
The Weiand ram looks relatively cheap, how much would that cost time/$$ to set up?

I have a 3800 series II SC engine from an 04 Monte Carlo that I originally put into my 88GT, that puked a rod bearing within 300miles of the changeover. This engine is going to be rebuilt for use in another car for my wife. She wants a Fiero GT with a stick in it. So over the next few years we are going to be looking for one for her ride. My 88 is running fine with the second engine from an 06 Pontiac so it is a series III. Just got the tires and wheels on it this last weekend. It is really starting to look good now and with it running well I am happy for now. Next stop at Ryan Gick's shop for some more work.

Spectral:Alright so I have decided to do a 3800 swap and turbo it. My question is this though. I am going to get the engine at a pull a part for next to nothing and will be replacing pistons cams valves valve springs cleaning up the head possibly porting it. My question is if I plan on getting all of those parts does it matter if I get the non supercharged or supercharged version? If someone has a detail comparison or know where I can find a comparison for it.
Thanks!!

americasfuture2k:the 3500 LX9 took a dump on me, so im taking it out and setting it aside and the cradle for my brother to have when he gets himself another fiero.

im am going to snag up a L67 where ever i can find one that is a good deal for its specs. i dont know exactly what all i will need for this, but i think i might have an idea of some of the sources. i will be listing the parts and links to what i am needing, if there is anything that needs to be corrected or you know of a better source for cheaper, then by all mean post it up.

L67 will be had from car-part.com or some other junk yard out here. maybe pull a part if i can find a good one. just called pull a part and its 250 for a complete engine and 20 for the harness/computer. score, no?

the flywheel will be from a 2000 camaro 3800, turned down on the surface to a total thickness of .840"

the clutch... i can reuse my centerforce dual friction clutch right?

mounts... what all engine mounts do i need? and where or who from? can i use the RD solid adjustable dogbone i got and has barely been used... for one 20 mile trip?

the computer... does it need to be from anything specific or will the car it came from work. of course get it flashed to work with a getrag.

the harness... the one from the car it came from will work? just cut off or depin all the un-needed things?

coolant line routing, thats a sinch.

fueling... i have a 88 corvette fuelpump and freshly cleaned L67 injectors off the 3500.

i think that is it. im going to search for an engine this weekend. for only 250, shoot yea. and another cradle...

i know i need to mill down the fly wheel and get a new fuel pump. now what about the mounts do i just have to replace the engine mounts or do i have to replace the trans mounts as well?

as far as wiring and i swear when i die and goto hell it will be wiring and cord hell as i am required to untangle and rewire a never ending ball of insulated copper. that being said i have the fiero computer great that can run the internals of the fiero right like the speedo and and what not. but as for the 3800 computer it will run the rpms oil pressure tempurature and gas? or is there an easyer way to wire it up?

now i have never done a engine swap and i know newbies shouldnt do it but you have to learn some how i just want to do it the right way.

The best source of info on that is www.thirdgen.org and I'll try to find you links to a couple of magazine articles about it.

I'm thinking about having a 4.9L Cadillac V-8 put into my newest '88 GT.
My only problem is that I was hoping to have BMWguru do the work, but it seems that he's moving to Kentucky. That's probably a good thing for him but not so good for me. I, unfortunately am staying here in NJ so I'm not sure how or who's going to do the swap.
