ivanna i posted regarding pming you lol. Im interested in the car your friend may have and ill take all the help i can get. Its not an 88 sadly but still was pretty nice. I had the paint done at macco in brockton which came out pretty nice since i needed a lot of body work. If you have work done by them let me know and ill give you my name since im friendly with a manager there.
Boost thats more or less exactly what im planning. Like most others said its certaintly fixable but the work vs. ease of getting a doner is an easy choice. The rest of the car seems to be perfect except the front 2 feet or so. Anything from the middle of the fender line back is still usable. Still steers and has brakes and rolls anyhow and runs. Someone Commented on the panels up front possibly being salvageable but the damage fronm the pole on the bumper was pretty bad. STILL GOT MY KAMEI SKIRTS THOUGH! that was a blessing.
IVANNA i got your pm but i still cannot pm you back?

well both frame rails are damged to atleast some extent. The drivers side is folded up like an acordian and the passenger side fron of the rail got folded down a litte. The radiator go pushed back so hard the fan motor put a huge dent in the front compartment. Im looking for a new fiero to swap stuff onto.

Hey, if you can't find a donor car to swap stuff into, try finding a front clip to weld onto yours. That's what I had to do with the '86 Sportie I got for $200. Poor teenage ran onto the back of a pickup with the hitch ramming into the nose. I cut off the nose behind the upswing of the frame rail and welded anoother section into it's place. You'd have to look hard to see where it was done
Full disclosre of results: No issues with frame being severely out of alignment prior to my slicing and grafting a new part on. Car had no alignment issues prior to or after graft.

Yea I think I would write that one off. You can probably find a donor though and swap interior and untouched body pannels.
However, you are %100 at fault for failure to assure clear distance ahead, ACDA. She is a dumbass, but has no responsibility for those behind her. There is a diffrence between dumbass and being responsible. Id say you made a mistake, probably a reasonable one all of us do and get away with 99.9999 % of the time, but still completely your fault. Personally anytime I stop, I always keep one eye on the rear view mirror making sure the person behind me is paying attention.
At least you made the good choice to try to avoid the accident, so many people just hit the brakes and close their eyes. I look at it like this, by swerving you had a chance to get out of it, and if nothing else, a telephone pole cant sue you, and either way the car is done for, this way your insurance doesnt have to pay for hers.
And no amount of 'looks like' is going to win in court over your saying you were wearing your belt. They dont always leave marks, and I dont know what the hell 'looks like it hasnt been used in a while' is supposed to look like. What they were doing was trying to trick you into admitting you wernt, which is an instant conviction.
I still think all the seatbelt laws are bull****. 1 its survival of the fittest, if you choose not to wear it, at least it weeds out the poorer drivers, and 2, at least in Ohio, the only way it was instituted was the Federal Government threatened to pull highway funding if it wasnt. Coencidentally they did the same with all the state funded anti-smoking campaigns.

Wow. Sorry to hear that man. Looks like my Del Sol when i wrecked it a couple years ago. Hit a truck, was his fault though. Was a total loss of course. Im sure it coulda been fixed though but it had over 200,000 miles on it.....
Wow thats a lot of damage, I would part the rest of it out or find a replacement and move your good parts to it.
It wouldn't have mattered if you hit her or the pole, you would have got the blame for it. You would have probably been charged with following too close and failure to control your car. Been there before only on the other end of the bumper. Sucks but those are just the rules of the road. She was stopping on the same surface you were. Its a shame the cop was being an "ass" but perhaps he is tired of scraping young kids up off the road and you just got caught up in it.
Glad you're ok. Bottom line thats the only thing that counts and I say that with a wreck in the yard that I should have gave up on a long time ago.
I had a similar thing almost happen. It was last semester. I was leaving college and there was a kid that would always leave a minute before me. At the end of the college road there is a stop light that senses when there is a car there and will give you a green light every so often. Him always leaving a minute before me always made me catch the red light. So one day I decide to follow him. Someone else turned the light green just before us. The kid looked like he was going for it. Then the light turned orange and he slammed on his brakes, so I had to do the same. He had anti lock brakes, I didn't. Stopped just inches from his G6. I was upset, but I realized if I hit him, it would have been 100% my fault.

One word, OUCH! Hope you feel better man. It really sucks when your first car gets wrecked. At least the person who rear-ended my mustang was civil about it.

after reading all the replys, i worked on my car today and checked my seat belts and it would not click when pulled on. it does stop 2 inches from the steering wheel. if your car does the same thing, the seat belt has to be broken.i have driven many cars, newer and you just reach and the dam thing will not let you move at all. question, do all fiero's seat belt operate like this.i belive the police should have took your word that you had your seat belt on. hope you are feeling well today.

I no i checked mine to and there is a reason fiero's and older cars arent as good as the new ones. The fieros work on a pendulum style seatbelt safety stop where as the new ones do it by the tq. of the pulling on the belt. The fieros seatbelt only "locks" when the pendulum (sp.) in the seatbelt cavity swings forward. So it wuldnt have kicked in right until i hit the pole. For example when your going down a hill the seatbelt "lock" is on cuz the pendulum is forward and kicked on by accident. It doesnt kick on in a crash until the last second unless the brakes will throw the car hard enough to swing the pendulum into the locked position. Since i slid on snow and had no stopping resistance from the brakes it wouldnt help me much if at all.
Im 99% positive thats how it works someone can feel free to correct me if im wrong.
I am feeling better though thanks . Still sad about the fiero but Im trying to work that out now. Im going to try and get both a winter/commuter car and when/if i rebuild the fiero keep it on the side as my nicer fun car.

Yep, that's about how it works.. Sometimes that type is a pain (like looking around a corner when stopping at the bottom of a hill.. PITA!) but sometimes I prefer it. A lot of new ones these days are way too sensitive. You move them at all and they catch. My GF's Mini Cooper is real annoying that way.
I got your text about my Fiero, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner... I was hoping to find out if I got my license back or not before deciding.. (also it's $0.20 per text.. ) Got the letter today, they ruled against the RMV and they're re-instating my license! So it looks like I'm going to try and get rid of the tC and get the Fiero on the road after all. Insurance is half as much, especially now with the surcharge from this crazy lady... At least 12 months before I get a hearing on appealing the surcharge. At least I can drive again. I'll keep an eye out for any cheap swappable Fieros for ya! Finally loaded the pictures (were scrambled on my iPhone), man the car was looking good before!!

No problem lol, i didnt really have the money i needed to offer to make it worth it on your end either. It does suck a lot that i just had it painted and all the body work done too. I still have some $ parts in my room and others that were still being shipped so im past the point of no return. I cant believe the trouble im having finding a fiero at the moment. Im still waiting to hear from ivanna about more details but ive talked to people about buying three or four in the area now and had no luck with them wanting to sell or being able to get them soon.
On a good note after i got the bumper and stuff off i was able to drive it up and down my driveway and aside from the radiator leaking some its runs, drives and even steers and breaks fine. The weird sound of the motor was one of the coil packs got knocked loose but now its all good. Just need a car!

no problem thats actually the same car. I decided to keep it, i just bought a nose and cut off the old one. Still have some work to do getting all the sheet metal fitting correctly but its pretty close right now.
