hehe, I run into this all the time. Do you have power windows and an auto? If not, the little indentation where they should be works great when you wedge something on the passenger side that sits higher up than the surround plate. Just have to set the cup down and watch the cornering. Maybe even rest a hand on the cup.
Works with small McD's cups, not sure about wendys though...

The cup holders in a Fiero are behind the instrument panel between it and the dash. One on each side. Don't try a coffee cup or a can of soda, it ain't pretty.

You could always stick to the old fashioned 2 legged cup holder....Just watch out for the hard braking...
Or theres the co-pilot cupholder...

Co-pilot cupholder works well when he knows what he's doing. Or when you tell him that if he spills he's going to be licking pavement at 65 mph....and as we all know, its not hard to do in a Fiero
Another *stupid* way to do it would be to set cruise on the highway, pull feet back, knees up, and hold cup between your feet...done that one already too...
If I have plastic bottles, I kinda just wedge them between myself, the seat back, and the center console...only takes 1 hand to open them, and they aren't rolling all over the place on the passenger side of the car, out of my reach when i want it...

Hey now, I was that "Co-Pilot Cup holder" and I did my job! Given I didn't think he was gonna lay on the throttle like that. Although, I should have known, it is a Fiero.

I like the Hi-Riser Cup holder. The base bolts right in place of the ALDL cover plate and the cup holder slides right in and out of the base as you need it.

When I have a bottle, or something that closes I usually let it ride along in the passenger seat, and it stays content no matter how hard I drive the car it seems. If I go for some fast food though I have to keep it between my legs on the seat, and that gets tricky sometimes around a corner with the clutch.

Haha, yes! Someone else who does it. They are almost perfect. Just got to make sure you get the big cups, I accidentally misjudged a coffee cup from the gas station.
Piping hot coffee all over your legs/Fiero at 6 a.m. on the way to work is NOT fun.

I have one of those in both of my GT's, and its great.
I've never been brave enough to try behind the instrument panel, but I like the idea of putting a bracket on the bottom to support the cup.
If it's a bottle that closes I'll wedge it between the seat and the door on top of the ebrake (this works even better on the pass side if you have a co-pilot to hand it to you, and you can fit two there so neither of you has to hold them). If it's a fast food soda situation it has to go between my legs, but I drive with the wheel all the way down and the wheel will usually knock the lid off the big cups.
The real problem is if you have to do a food run and end up with too many drinks, I just sit them on the floor up against the front of the passenger seat, then try to build a wall out of the food, my purse, anything I have laying around the car to hold them.

For years Ive carried a stainless steel sealable thermos thingie just for that reason. Even tho i have cup holders in all the cars...
If i goto a fast food place ( not often anymore ) i just pour the drink in the thermos and toss the 'cup' before i head out.

Around here most fast food joints have cardboard 'drink carrier' things behind the counter, but you have to ask for them.

This was offered by Mslorifiero but like all of her endeavors, it went down the toilet after many failed promises. It was supposed to screw in to the cigarette lighter/aldl cover.
If all goes well, I emailed Fierostore about remaking these so hopefully, they will.

I use those cupholders too! They hold all but the largest (and maybe the smallest) fast food cups. They also old empty Coke cans fairly snugly. (It helps if you loosen the large hex screws that hold the flat steel instrument pod bracket to the rest of the dash, push the pod towards the dash, and then retighten them.)

Before I get in the car. If it's a 20oz of Coke for example that I can screw a cap back on I'll bring it in the car and drink it, but cans and McDonald's cups don't come in the car.

Yeppers, works well. Just don't get a small drink. I always get the larger cup sizes and they ride well. I would recommend leaving the caps or lids on and use a straw, if you hit a deep pot hole, there's still gonna be a mess to clean up.

I bought one of those cupholders that has a rubber tab that wedges between the window and holds the unit to the door but it doesn't fit on a Fiero. I just took the rubber pad and stapled it to a piece of 8" L x 3" W 1/4" wood and placed it in the door map pocket to hold it. The cup holder sits out of the way and its removable.

don't mean to be rude, but none of these look like they belong in the car... they have no class. If you look into a stock fiero, everything looks like it belongs perfectly. I still haven't seen an idea that truly yells out PONTIAC.

Sometimes you have to abandon stock and go custom. A "Coke" holder:

Madcurl, Thats a good idea ("coke holder") But you show it holding a PEPSI! I wasnt sure if a PEPSI would fit.... since its a COKE holder.....????
Maybe it's a CA thing, but "Coke" is slang lingo for all Cola related beverages. As for the "Coke" holder I have them in all of my cars. Granted, if you have a stereo pull-out viewing screen you'll need to remove the beverage during stereo screen operation. It's not the best mouse trap on the market, but it meets my daily needs (holding change, beverages, cell phone, and keys).
Items needed;
1. West Coast Fiero center console. Ask for additional lenght to radio bezel. Drill holes, and remount stock parts or in my case... toss all of the old crap and go modern. 2. Watson's Street Works for aluminum cups.
It also hold those regular 16 oz. size Jamba Juice smoothies. (note; a different car with the same set-up).

Alternative aluminum cup holder; a bit radical in design, but a total Fiero dash make-over for owners who are pissed-off with stock. Gauge placements using PISA's center dash;
Same various venders OEM equipment I normally use on all of my chop tops; Viper bezel/leather boot, Street works duel cups, and MOMO shifter (not in pic).

When I go to Wendys, I put my drink on the table and finish it and whatever I've ordered to eat before getting back into my car. I'll not be turning my Fiero into a mobile crumb pit.

Sometimes function must outweigh looks.
I suppose you could 'hide' a cup holder behind the instrument cluster, then no one would see it and you wouldn't risk it falling thru onto your leg.

I also don't eat in my cars, but i do drink. and i do make food runs in the car to bring home to eat..
These only look awesome if you redo the whole interior, like the way your doing.
