Hey fellow PFF'ers I have been considering putting a wrap around wing on my Formula here lately, and I am just curious to see as many pictures as possiable of notch-backs with this wing on it before I actually decide to do this.
Long time, no see...! I miss your beautiful Fiero images, perhaps you could make a thread over in GFC with some of your work in there...
[/minor thread hijack]
I like this one: ( it's and notchie, and a Formula!)
It's mine, but I let Raydarrrr drive it and work on it and fill it with gas, change the oil, get it inspected , pay insurance, and park it in his driveway.
I had completely forgotten about your car . . . I feel so bad about that. But that does help, I was worried that when I painted th car and it was all done and said that since mine is black as well, it would appear like a big blob of black. And of course it just looks pretty!
( Hmmm I still like those side scoops even if I am bias )

I like the wrap around wing as pictured on the red car, where it comes down to the top of the tail lights, unlike on the black car where there is a space there above the tail lights. I also like the way it gives you that "frenched" trunk lock. Keep in mind when you combo with a mustang scoop as on that car, water can tend to puddle when it's parked and then dump on your engine when you first brake.
Do you really have a GT tail light conversion on your notchie, as represented in your signature? Thought about that one myself a few times. Maybe a third gen(82-92) camaro spoiler might be a better fit to the edge above the tail lights? Or maybe find a wrap around with the shorter bottom edge, then shave a little off the edge to clear the lights, it may even have a little overhang giving the tail lights a slightly "frenched" effect.

I did have the car in my signature just never actually got around to painting her, I ended up selling it to another member on PFF he is currently transfering the clip over to another car he had. After I sold her I came across a Formula which is what I am currently tinkering with.
Wow... As much as I've spammed the Forum with pics of my car, now other people are doing it for me. (The pics really hide a multitude of flaws. It needs a paint job badly.)
Having said all that... The spoiler is just bolted down. It doesn't allow water to puddle in the corners. It leaks out between the spoiler and the decklid. The Mustang scoop has also never created a water problem. It's fully functional, and the entire front-center section of the decklid (most of the "bubble" ) has been removed.
The negative aspect of having the spoiler that extends all the way to the bottom of the decklid is that it's nearly an inch thick where the lock is. I took a cylindrical sanding drum and "wallowed out" the hole, in order to make it easier to get the key in. To be fair, this was one of IRM's last production spoilers, purchased in '98. Doug's (Fiero Warehouse) seem to be better quality, IIRC.
Here are a couple of older pictures.

I really do like the look even with the scoop on there as well. I was never worried about water for the same reason you mentioned, as for quality of product again not something I have to worry about since Sage will be looking over my shoulder as I lay it up

Just so everyone knows, The spoiler that stops half way down is the "street car" version and the one that extends down to the lights is the "race car" version. The race car version is the one that came with the original street SD4 body kit. If I recall it is a taller/longer spoiler edge than the street version.
As for water pooling, If installed per directions there are 1/8" gaps between the decklid and spoiler that allows the water to drain on both spoilers. There are a few who have glassed the edges to the decklid or ran a weather seal under the spoiler. These will pool water. My advice would be if it's a daily driver, Install it with the gaps so the water doesn't pour into the engine compartment. Even without a scoop it will pour thru the vents and along the firewall side right on top of the exhaust manifold. Hot manifold + cold rain water = cracked manifold.
I bought mine from www.fierowarehouse.com Highly recommend them if you want one. They do an excellent job on all their fiberglass parts.

Hey everybody, I am not trying to highjack this thread, but i am wondering if anyone has tried to rework the wraparound type spoilers used on 3rd and 4th gen firebirds on a fiero?

I've thought about it, but never had one handy to try. At one time, I had an 88 Firebird Formula with the wraparound spoiler. I don't think the shape would have translated to the Fiero very well, without a decent amount of surgery. (The side portions of it were actually clipped to the sides of the rear window frames. It would not have laid flat on the decklid.) Aside from that, that spoiler was made of thick urethane that liked to crack and split. It also weighed about 30 lbs! Sorry. Don't mean to wee in your cheerios. That's just how I remember it.
There was a fiberglass redesign that was quite sleek, on the 91 and 92 Formula (and Trans Am, I think?) It was a little flatter, and seemed to wrap around the back glass a little more. I was thinking that it was not clipped to the sides of the glass as the previous ones were, but I'm not sure after looking at the pics.
Edit - Found a different angle. Never could figure out why the took the "bite" out of the center.
Nobody has mentioned this, but the Dodge Shadow ES spoiler has been adapted, and works well. Looks like a more sedate version of the IMSA spoiler. Also looked quite similar to the earlier urethane F-bod spoiler.
