I drove two different Fiero for over ten years. Loved both of those cars. I bought one brand new, the other (a GT) I restored myself.
But recently I finally saw the light. I purchased and restored my first Pulsar. Trust me I'm all about RED, WHITE and BLUE. But the truth is, my Pulsar could blow the doors off both my Fieros, and anyone else's. It's not even a question. Plus I get far more looks in my Pulsar.
The Fiero is a pretty sweet little car, but it's almost like a practice car for the real thing. Sure enough they can get up and go and are fun to drive but they don't handle, don't accelerate (and don't look near as slick) as a Pulsar.
But I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience. Or tested both cars side by side.

Welcome to the forum... I guess?
Which generation Pulsar? The generation contemporary to the Fiero (1983 - 1986) were never known for looks or performance. If you are talking about a later turbocharged one then it's apples and oranges.
I never liked that car it was rather stubby. I have never driven a pulsar, but as for beating any fiero, i hope your referring to stock because there are some rather sick engine swaps out there. If you think a pulsar handles well then your on your own with that or your fiero is in such disrepair suspension wise that the pulsar feels better.
Hey like I said, my Pulsar gets me more looks than my Fieros ever did. I took one girl out and she said it was the sweetest car she'd ever been in, and she was from England.
My custom restored 1986 Pulsar, I painted it Terra Green. It would slaughter my Fiero (even my old GT). It's got an ET Turbo so say what you want.
But I guess you could be right saying it's apples and oranges. But I still think it plain to see that it's more unique and a sweeter ride altogether. Plus once I switched over to a Pulsar the cops started treating me with more respect. That's all that needs to be said, if you know what I mean.

I highly doubt your Pulsar is faster than a modded Fiero, no way. A sightly modded 3800 SC would run all over you. Hey I could be wrong, post some pics, stats, mods. I want to see this Pulsar that looks better than a Fiero.
But the truth is, my Pulsar could blow the doors off both my Fieros, and anyone else's. It's not even a question. Plus I get far more looks in my Pulsar.
The Fiero...can get up and go and are fun to drive but they don't handle, don't accelerate (and don't look near as slick) as a Pulsar.

We've obviously some differences of opinion re the appearance of the Pulsar, a car with which I'm not familiar. Has anyone any pictures of a Pulsar to post?

HG -say all you want. The Pulsar is leaner and meaner.
You can drive around all you want in your Ferrari Jr. meanwhile all the girls will point and laugh.
You mean this?
Note that I welcomed you with a question mark. Be advised that joining a Fiero forum and trashing the Fiero is the quickest way to activate the Speed Banning protocol. Remember you are on probation and your continued presence here requires you to behave.
i believe its a fast car. gotta find a pretty big cliff for it to reach terminal velocity though. seems like a kid. talks of buying one new, restoring, and then pretty much internet ebonics. correct me if i'm wrong.
Look I'll post pics tonight when I get off work. Trust me.
But until then only thing I want to point out is that if you take a woman out for an exotic dinner. And you ask her about a Fiero she'll say it looks like a Ferrari except smaller and not as classy.
But if you ask about a Nissan Pulsar she'll say oh wow that's a really unique and good looking car. It's not trying to be anything else.
When I street race here in LA with it people like you give me crap ALL THE TIME....I'm used to it. But then when I take 'em out, they all become my friends. Figure that one out there Trapper John.
Please pardon my naivete about its appearance, but is that what a Pulsar really looks like, or is jscott1 in posting the above picture just giving the new PFF member, jackknife33, a really rough time?
I dont think ive ever seen a pulsar ive liked, the 80's pulsar looks very dated while the later years look like a VW golf to me...i mean i dont mind golfs but i would never compare one to a fiero, like it was said earlier, apples and oranges. If you dislike fieros so much, why dont you find your way over to the pulsar forum...which i doubt there is...they usually dont make forums for a car noone wants to be seen in

i think the pulsar model that came after that one is kinda interesting, what with the different hatch lids, and t-tops, but i have to guess this is just trolling.
on a side note, there is a guy that only posted here a couple times who's trying to put a turbo pulsar engine in an 84 coupe, haven't heard about much progress with it lately though.
I used to have a Datsun 310 (early Pulsar) and it was ok. The stock engines, if I recall correctly, are more along the line of 95 to 123 hp.
The Pulsars handle ok, but, I agree they look like a grocery getter, not a sports car. That said, a Tuner can add body panels, some engine upgrades and suspension packages and they become a nice little performance sedan. Good for rally applications I think.
Put the same effort and $$ into a Fiero, and you have a totally different beast IMHO. I don't think they are really comparable.
Sorry, but as of right now, this post wreaks of "hater" who has found the forum and would at first glance appear to be some kid with his first car- and a not so sporty or cool car at that- getting on here to post. Please note that every teenager who drives a base model Civic or Escort ALSO claims how fast their car is or how many looks they get while driving it. Why would someone not get on Pennocks and post until AFTER getting out of Fieros? And please- a Pulsar gets more looks than his Fieros ever did? Sorry, but NO generation of Pulsar would meet that standard, especially when compared to a Fiero GT. And the whole "blow the doors off" any Fiero is quite the statement as well.
I don't buy it until some kind of REAL proof is put up.
But that's just me.

You must really have the market cornered on car conversations with women. This is the first I've heard of the Pulsar being a really unique and good looking car. And I highly doubt many women you talk to know what either a Fiero OR a Pulsar look like based upon this whole discussion.
Can't wait for the pics you promised. You have my attention!

FLASHBACK - anyone remember Dude16? Too funny!
Anyway, you do realize that this is a FIERO forum full of Fiero fanatics. Glad you found a car you like, but personally I think the Pulsar looks like... well... nevermind.
Man that Pulsar still looks better than a Ferrari Jr.
And this statement alone makes you hard to take seriously- if you can say it with a straight face that is. That first gen pulsar is horrible looking by virtually any automotive aesthetic standards. And if you believe what you say, you are in the minority. Even the auto mags in the 80's pointed out that the Fiero was attractive and that the other options like the Pulsar were far less appealing vehicles. Do your research Mr. Pulsar.
And BTW, as a "former Fiero" guy who only recently converted to "Pulsar Man," I highly doubt you'd be using "Ferrari Jr." to disparage our cars on this forum. I'd say you are just trying to cause trouble.
Have fun!

My step-dad owned two Fieros, not me. But you guys wouldn't have taken me seriously if I said that.
Ever since the fire though he was always sayin' that Fieros are bullcrap. And that he'd never go down to the river track again. That's when we switched over to Pulsars and guess what? Everyone talks about us now.
But for real you have to admit, that a Pulsar is a pretty sweet car and looks pretty sweet.

Does this make sense to anyone else?
