I am in the process of gathering the tools required to completely make sets of dew wipes. I am attempting to locate the correct felt for the 4 inner pieces. Once this is all located I will make some sets for myself and a few friends. These sets will reuse the metal pieces from old sets. Any that I make will require a core for the pieces to be returned. Weather or not I decide to make for sale is depending on demand. So far from this thread I've gathered that Jose is not selling dew wipes but the main piece to make them with.

Considering the tools I'd be using are hand tools I don't think my little hands could keep up with demand no matter how nice it would be to be the main source of them. Money would be nice but the arthritis would suck after the first hundred sets.

I received this E-Mail from Cindy Bergstrom at Fairchield Industries yesterday afternoon:

"Hi Joseph,,

Since we sent you the above glass channels, I realized that we are providing this to J.C.Whitney in 4 ft lengths. Ethically, then we really shouldn't be selling this to the general public since J.C. Whitney is our distributor. Plus, we really don't have the manpower to be processing a bunch of $50 orders. J.C. Whitney's part number is ML819751 and their 4 ft lengths sell for $14.99. Such a deal we gave to you!

If you have my name and Fairchild's number listed on some website, could you please replace it with the J.C. Whitney information?

Thanks so much!
Cindy Bergstrom"

Please do not call Fairchield to get these.

Here is the link to the JC Whitney item
http://www.jcwhitney.com/au....x=16&searchbtn.y=15

I have a list of members that have sent me their money to purchase these strips. She will go ahead and sell these to me the one time. Then we are all going to hav to buy from JC Whitney.
Once again please do not call Cindy Bergstrom at Fairchield to get these.

Joe

You can also get them from Restoration Specialties I believe
Their catalog is here: http://www.restorationspeci...%20Catalog%20PDF.pdf
It is on page 13 but not sure of the exact part number. I just got a friend to pick up a 8' length from Carlisle but they told him they would cut to length so shipping would be less. May be another good source. If anyone would like measurements or pictures of what I bought just let me know and I'll post them.

Ditto, good thing I got in on it as well.

However, I then realized that my soon-to-be '86 parts car has perfectly intact and pliable dew strips to use for the new '88. *smack* I might consider parting with the new strips once I get them, or I might save them for 10 years from now when the stock ones need replacing again. It depends on anybody wanting them or not I suppose.

Still, thanks much for putting this together.

Luckily I contacted Cindy last week and also got an order in. I'm picking my order up in person on Monday so might get to meet Cindy.

She did say they can sell the carton of 15 pieces to us yet so if someone wanted to do a large deal other than JC-W it could be done.

I'm getting enough for 5 sets and will be using 2-3 for sure. I have a couple extra sets of bad wipes I might rebuild and offer if there was interest in them.

Might be a winter project, have not decided for sure.... so don't get excited!

DR

So I put my first wipe together. Wasn't too bad at all.... I'm just waiting on some new screws I ordered to put it in. I'm doing a whole big door refurb project, and this is just one part of it... but I'll tell you, I put the new wipe in place, and it sure was nice to not see that old petrified cracked eyesore there.

Locating them is easy now, JC Whitney. You have to make them yourself. It was a piece of cake. I did both doors If you will read this thread, its all here.

I installed a new set on my fiero when I had it.. it was a pain in the a**

I just bought some new ones for my vette.. I think you probably can use the C4 vettes on a Fiero,,, The vettes install easy without rivets, they have a pop system that goes into where the rivets were...

The Vette dew wipes are pretty cheap and readily available anywhere on ebay... or at a corvette shop..which Mpls has one.

FWIW, I'm told that the 3rd gen F body dew wipes are easily modified to work on the Fiero.

I have not verified this, however.
