Not at all. James is clearly the one who dropped the ball on this. It's not your fault that he never finished the project. Legally, the car still belongs to you, though. I just saw that there was likely some communication error, and I wanted to help get things done so we can put this whole thing behind us and make someone a little happier, by giving them the car. Neither yourself, nor RandomTask are to blame for the communication error. It's the internet. Communication errors happen every 0.0625 seconds on it. Sorry if you felt like we were blaming you.

Random: In your last PM to me on 9/18 you even ask me if I visit VA often, referring to the fact i may need to sign something or whatever once you get the title process figured. I explained to you twice I didn't live there anymore. Sure, a simple mistake at first, but if after you got the first one back, checking our previous correspondence would have cleared it up.

Dobey just PM'd me and got my current address. If you need to correspond with me to help out, fine. I'm not blaming you at all, quite the opposite. I understand your situation and I thank you for the effort you've put forth thus far. The DMV requires I send the letter to the address on the title. I was HOPING that the person that moved into your old house would just sign it and throw it away. That way, I'd get my delivery confirmation, wait the 30days, and just title it. Again, I understand this is in NO way your fault. .

The statement I was trying to make is the fact that there are only 3 ways to get a title for this car.
a.) Abandoned vehicle - can't because new resident in your old house won't sign
b.) Get james to put title in his name - can't get in touch with him
c.) Get you to get copy title - not happening seeing you live so far away now.

Its really james and my fault. he should have transferred title first thing, and I should never have accepted the car until the title was in his name and signed over.

XOXO

Just off track here a little but this title issue you guys seem to have with cars is crazy. A really messed up system. All we need over here to prove we own a car is the registration papers, and or a signed receipt of purchase. The rego papers are sort of like a title but even if they are not signed on sale the car will still transfer because the car has not been reported stolen.

James is the only one to blame here.

http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/citizen/vehicles/replacement.asp

Replacement Titles

Replacement titles are issued for vehicles if a title is lost, stolen or mutilated. Substitute titles are issued when information on the previously issued title needs to be changed. To obtain a replacement title:
Order online
hard to do without the needed info
Call 1-888-337-4782 or
Bring your current registration card and your driver's license or ID card to your local customer service center.
Pay the replacement title fee.

VA RICER, Try to call the 888 number and tell them you moved out of state and you sold the car to someone in Va but lost the title. Another thing that might work is get a notorized letter stating you sold the car to Joe and lost the title. The original title might have been torn on the bottom, you never know...

There is one more option. If there is room on the title where the buyer signs put the word "or" and then your name and when you goto the DMV just have them put the title in just your name and you should be good to go. I've done it a time or two now and have not had any problems.

My Number has been the same. I called you again this last friday, and Have not recieved a return call. As I told you on the phone, I'll be in town till this friday then I'm out again for another 2 weeks. I thought you said on the phone that the day we were supposed to meet up, you did try and call me back but just got the answering machine, but your post above said you lost my "new" number. Its still the same, it's been the same for the past 4 years. When we do finally meet up, I still have a few parts in a bin.

- Arm rest
- key fob for the keyless entry
and some other odds and ends.

I was assuming auction it off - give the money out.

Talked to (had a beer with) saxman as he was in the area the other week. He thinks he can help with the title.
I'll keep you posted on that.

Saxman, PM me with any info/questions you may have. Thanks!

i say give out raffle tickets to all the fiero owners that were displaced for katrina, then hold a drawing, you might have to look through the members lists to get ahold of some of the members that have lost contact with PFF or have not stayed in contact for various reasons. either way id just give it away to one owner instead of selling it and splitting up the funds, its been too long of a duration now to just split the money up, just give it to a lucky raffle winner and let it go, it will make someone VERY happy with the un-expected gift.

I say you should just sell it and give the money to charity. It's been so long since Katrina that most of the "victims" have already resettled and gone on with their lives. I feel a charity would be better off with any money made from this car. You could even donate it in the name of the forum if you wanted too.
