Looks good. Being a Buick motor you are going to have to change a few things out for it to work in the Fiero. If it came with the aluminuim SC tensioner setup, you will need to get a steel one from a GTP. The oil pan I believe will be an issue if you plan on running exhaust out the stock Fiero location. Nothing major, just a heads up on a few things.
You will love the swap once it is complete and on the road with all the bugs worked out. Get ready to spend some more money on MODs, cause you will get the urge.

NO--I am in chat if you wanna talk about the swap.
Yes I do want to talk to you but I cannot connect to the chat right now for some reason--
The tensioner I believe was broken in the crash so it's missing He sold the a/c compressor--)*&^#$%^ ? alternator options/brackets oil filter adapter--
I'm guessing everyone except darkhorizon is buying mounts/brackets from Purple Reign? Prolly get FieroFlyer to do my harness
Not sure whether to keep my 4spd muncie centerforce clutch or go with 5spd getrag or find a 4t65e hd and go auto
I want great gas mileage and will never go down a 1/4 mile track.
and compare the chart with the pdf of your wiring, some of it might be different
With those two things, I completed my first harness in about 5 hours.
Also, if you aren't going to be going to the track, the trans you have will hold up just fine. But, the mileage will be better with the getrag I believe

Mileage would be somewhat better with the auto technically, but only if you do alot of highway driving. The muncie hardly got 20mpg on the highway when we had it in there. Granted the maf curve was dumping like 4% extra fuel at the time, but it was spinning at 3100 some rpms. An econo would drop that significantly if you could piece that together easily.
If you dont want to mess with swapping out broken transmissions, I would also suggest the auto for that, the muncie in MY PERSONAL experience has had trouble in more situations than just the diff exploding from launching.

My four speed netted me 32 MPG the last time I had it on the road for a 600 mile one way trip.
Good luck with the swap. I am sure you will love it!
I agree if you have the time do the entire swap your self and just take your time and do a lot of reading up on the swap here on PFF. The engine you have will work fine depending on how you mount the engine, unfortunately most mounts you can buy will not work with the oil filter adapter and aluminum oil pan your engine has on it. Good thing is the oil pan, oil filter adapter and alt bracket from a 3800N/A will also work on the SC engine. Dan

That oil filter adapter will definatly have to go. I have spares But I dont see any issues with the oil pan

I could imagine this is possible if you keep the speeds low. My friend drives like a moron too, so that will easily throw off a mileage calculation with that setup.
I know he REALLY liked it when he put the getrag in, it was very nice for highway driving and IIRC he got slightly better mileage when we went to the track.

my 4 speed 3800 with 3:65 final drive got me 26MPG highway from charleston WV to blackrams house in kentucky, that was with a couple 100+ MPH spurts, its all mountains, no flats, and i didnt have working cruise.
i think at 65MPH with cruise set in a fairly flat area id get 30+ mpg.
the 4 speed will do fine, but you'll probably have to either get a custom y-pipe made to clear the shift cables, or do like me and modify your "firewall" side manifold so it dumps the exhaust down in the stock location, seal up the end on the "trunk" side and route the exhaust down there, and have true dual exhaust.

my swap eliminated the xover by using a modified mustang manifold...now some slam it for not being the best choice....but for me running with the 4 spd it works great...others say you loose top end...i say they dont know wtf they are talking about...my car hauls azz in all 4 gears....my azzometer says shift quick or hit the rev limter at 6500 ....you can use these to go duals or my set up uses a 1 inlet and a 2 outlet muffler...its a magnaflow part # 12158.... myself i am very pleased with the end results....just tossing another option your way....tim...ps i didnt have to loose any of the trunk either....
Oldsdoctor has asked me to give him first dibs on the 3.2 turbo but I have been soooo busy so I will let you know after I contact him if it will be available or not.

Can someone enlighten me, from the pics, as to what basic items I am missing?
The a/c---can I use my Fiero a/c there?
Alternator---?? options??
What pulleys are missing? where to source these ?
Thanks Jeff
You are missing the A/C compressor(wouldnt use the Fiero one), the Alt(can use either the 97/98-99up-Fiero/would use the GP Alt though) and the SC tensiner setup. All these parts can be bought from Ed Morad if you want to get them all at one time from a good source.

I agree! Ed Morad is the way to go, when needing 3800 parts. If you can think of it, he has it. You can find him on E-bay - http://stores.ebay.com/Mora...3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm If a part, that you need, is not listed on E-bay, just give him a call. 216 798 6902

The thing you refer to as "#5 is part of the original GTP fuse box or whatever the motor came out of. The fuse box has stuff like a fuel pump fuse and other things.
The big plate is to help hold the beauty cover thing in place, just remove it to get it out of your way. Your harness still has the MAP sensor plug so you can always just go get an engine harness that has not been cut up from a 3800 N/A engine to work with if needed. Four of the extra wires by the oil filter are for the second O2 sensor which you do not need and there should be a blue wire there for the knock sensor. If you are not using the EGR then just cap off where the hoses come from the exhaust manifold and the intake, if wanting to use the EGR the one from the N/A engine is the same. Dan

Looks like you have more than enough of your harness left, and the 2001 PCM is fine for anything, the 99-02 pcms are all the same basically. You are going to end up cutting back almost all of the harness parts you have pictured, all you really want to keep together is any of the PCM to engine connections, as you dont need to disturb those. One bonus to keeping them together is the fact that you can be assured that you didnt mix up any of the wires when you put the swap harness together.
