i used VHT night shades lens tint spray paint...very very pleased....very easy to do to..just took apart tailights..cleaned..sprayed 3 coats over a period of 30 mins...let set up over night...stuck back together and done...i think 2 coats would have been plenty but i opted for 3...totally blacked out...when i turn lights on at night they shine through just fine...but if markers are not on all u see is black...when you hit the brakes or turn signals they shine through fine too....tim..

interesting, Ive never heard of it. where did you buy it from? how was the finish? mind posting pictures?
I'd imagine it depends on how dark you go. I have some friends that have used the stuff....some of them, you can still easily see brake lights. Others, too dark to see through, I'd imagine that's where you'd get some tickets.

if anyone wants tinted tail lights... ill trade ya some tinted ones for some clear ones... there are some minor imprefections... i don't like my tint... it was done by the previous owner. There fastback taillight covers.
I've used this product too, but not on a Fiero. You have to apply it on the inside of the lenses, believe me from experience. I put it on my '94 Eclipse and on a friends Mustang GT. He ended up removing it before I did 'cause it started to fade. plus we couldn't get dust from clinging to the product. take it from me. do the extra work, remove the lenses, and apply the product to the inside.
Also be aware i paid $18 for one can and $8 for shipping (from Summit). One can did two coats on a set of Stang taillights and center light and also did a set of Eclipse taillights and backup lights.
If you decide to remove the product it's hard to do. i sprayed the heck out of it with carb cleaner. left such a bad residue i ended up getting replacement taillights. there was probably an easier method. i just went the cheap way out. (and paid for it in the long run)
i do recommend the product. just don't do like me...

I used 2 different types of tints on my tail lights.
1. rc294 R/C car tint. sand lenses to 400 spray 2 coats of this stuff stand to 600 paint clear sand 1000, 1500, 2000 then rubbing compount then meguires gold and they look awsome. I need some pics posted
2. Tayamia R/C smoke these look a lot better same prepping as step 1 but do not block out the lights nearly as much
$6 a can and it takes 1 can per sides holds up really well but you have to use a clear coat.

2 layers of fade resistant black panyhose wrapped around the inner color lense, then black plastic gutter guard between that and the clear outter lense.

I give another vote to the Nite Shades by VHT very easy to use and quick to do. I did the tailights on my black '86 SS notchback and they look like they are painted, you wouldn't know they were taillights with the lights off. I got a set of Rodney Dickmann's brighter taillight bulds and they light up just like they weren't tinted. Don't have a pic but they look like you painted them black. I just put two coats on the inside of the clear lenses.

You could see them rather easily with stock bulbs. Night time would be no problem at all but during the day I was a little leery about using the stock bulbs so I just went ahead and got Rodney's bulbs from the get go. I figure its only a couple more bucks for his bulbs and cheap insurance to keep someone from rear ending me. But you could run stock bulbs if you had to without much trouble. We've got that third brake light so you shouldn't really have any problems. I would say with the stock bulbs and tinted it was about 80 - 85% of what it was untinted.

I feel bad for proff. Can you get this tint at a local autoparts store. How do you take the thing of to tint it. I need to change some bulbs back there too. Im tired of seeing PONAC instead of PONTIAC
Edit: Shoulda read the whole thing before asking the 1st question
