As of right now, I have $31,552 in the Finale. You have to remember, though, that we've been driving it for 4 years and have put on 3 sets of tires, had a new GM crate engine go TU and then swapped in a 4.9L Caddy. We'd had the 125C transmission rebuilt when we put the crate motor in and it's in the race car now. It's a continuing process.

When we finished it and started driving it, we had $24,507.00 in the car when we drove it to the first show (RRR at Texahoma). And that included pretty much everything replaced that could wear out, Mr. Mike's seats, new 3.4L crate motor, etc., etc. etc.

Of course, no labor included there that we provided, which I estimate (conservatively) at about 1500 man hours.

The car would never, ever bring that kind of money, but as RRunner says, it's not for sale so it doesn't matter.

The question posed was not whether anyone had one "worth" $100k - rather wether anyone had $100k "into it"

But the observation is certainly correct... even with my car "finished" (as I intend it to be in the future) I'm sure the actual resale value of the car would be lucky to even approach $10-15k... and it would definitely have to be the "right buyer" for something like that.
