I've heard just the opposite, because the newer stuff is thin, and does not have the insulation that the old stuff has.

I installed my new over old and it does make the car quieter. The only problem is getting the seat bolts started. Other than that I would recomment installing new over old.

Just an FYI - install the seat track NUTS after installing the carpet and snug down the carpert with them. Then remove them and reinstall the seats. It will be easier.

That's kind of how I did it...I cut away some of the stock carpet near the mounting holes so it wouldn't be so thick. Then after I put in the seats I found it was easier to get the nuts started upside down. Then after snugging them, I reversed them and put them on right side up.

Your way would have been easier!

Hey jscott, does get pretty hot in there with the black carpet in Houston?

I planned on painting my car black and installing black carpet/interior, but I'm afraid the heat will be unbearable here in San Antonio. Especially with the A/C out of service for now =\

The black carpet is a non-factor as far as the heat goes. And that's with t-tops no less. Of course my A/C works and it get's pretty cold pretty fast.
