Just curious to find out if anyone has installed a digital dash from a Subaru XT in their Fiero? Back in the 80s they had those digital dashes that looked almost like something from an old school video game.
The new Grand Prixs and Corollas that I have seen start up similar to that too... needles first then gauges on the Corolla and the needle test on the Grand Prix...
Since the low demand he decided not to waste money on the website and toll free numbers. He still has some dashes available. Gary is buying one now. Flyntus on this board. I guess you know who is going to install it
It is the best mod for the money and the easiest to install. I used to stare at the dash while driving but that was dangerous! so now I just watch the boring road....
I have people creep up next to me just to see it since I am so much lower then them.... so funny
anyway if you need Gary can get you the contact information for AEX and the dashes.... also they have a one year warranty on them too..
Nice only having 1 out of 12 ever sold.... like having hulky cut a fart in your car and signed the place where he did it... lol
use a cavalier z24 digital dash..they look neat..tim..
Ya those are pretty cool looking... do they just bolt on? or how much work is it... I found one in my price range and was thinking about it.... do they fit in our stock spot?
understood but considering wheels and tires cost close to that amount, or some major mods do the same. For once I wanted a mod that I could see each day and not everyone else. Besides it is nice to see the exact numbers instead of a ball park number. Very rare to have one of those types of dash's in your car. Like having a Norm's hood also, or custom body work or custom motor.... depends on what you want

im sure if you did a search on cavalier z24 dash install you would find a lot of posts....i know steven rossi use to sell them along with the instructions too...you do use the fiero gauge housing but you have to do some minor trimming on the z24 gauge cluster...it can be done with a dremel tool..as for the wiring it looks fairly simple you just need to match up wire to wire...some may require a temp sensor swap on your block??? i have some info and 3 dashes kicking around but i lost interest when i decided to go 350 tpi..if anyone makes me an offer i can refuse its all yours...tim..

From an older (87-89) GTA Trans Am I owned one.... Sweet dash but all th activity makes you worry about the smallest temperature changes.. 9(maybe im ocd)
Is there any way to get that steering wheel into a Fiero? I'd be interested in the radio controls.
It is out of an 89 Bonniville (if I am rmembering right). Not that hard to put in, just 4 wires to connect, but you need to proper radio to accept the dara from the controls. There a a few pics floating around here of the one in my car.

If you read back a few posts that dash came in th GTA 3rd gen BIRDS....I know since i owned one lol...dash is a pita to switch and it does not handle well over long periods of time as it is very tempermental...
That same wheel with grey coloring instead of the black is also available in '88 Pontiac 6000s and the Bonnevilles as Electrathon said. I'm sure there are other models but those are the ones I have found so far.

I should have put more info. This is from a third gen Trans Am GTA. I don't know what years it was offered (Stript96 said it was 87-89), but you don't see many anymore. That's also the factory steering wheel with radio controls in the GTA. While I imagine it would fit in a Fiero, it is much larger than the Fiero wheel - it's a larger diameter. It was also offered in the Bonneville, as someone else mentioned. The pic I posted is right out of the Pontiac factory brochure for that year's GTA.

The electronics of the dash are fairly bullet proof - there are only 3 real problems areas with this dash: 1) the switches that allow you to change the displays get dirty inside and no longer work properly (easily fix - harder to get the switch apart without breaking them). 2) bulbs burn out - the display is backlit, so with no bulb you don't see anything (the odometer bulb is a special halogen bulb with a lens built into the glass and is no longer available from any place - however a standard bulb seems to work just fine or a substituted halogen bulb with no lens also works). 3) Armor All - too many people use this crap on the dash and display, gets in behind the glass and causes the paint on the color plastic that is behind the display to add the color to come off - plus it destroys the foam around the glass as well. I repair these dashes for a local F body wrecker and those are the only problems that I have seen (other than broken glass on the displays). BTW, if you have any old ones laying around, I may be interested in buying them from you.
These dashes were available in the 87-89 T/A GTA’s.
I have done some preliminary work on fitting one into a Fiero. The displays can be removed from the T/A dash unit and repositioned however you want as each display is independent from the others. The biggest problem with them is the mounting depth. You would have to make a custom shroud for the back of the gauge pod to take this into account. Sorry I no longer have pictures of the dash (lost on a HD crash) and the Fiero unit is currently taken apart. Haven’t had time/ambition to work on it any further.
