Agreed.

His weapon would have been put away and he would have ceased his threats......either by force of reason, or reason of force.

Adding to what Greg said (and he's right) anyone who's antisocial enough to threaten you in the manner you describe is either on his way to the penitentiary, or has already been there. The penal institutions, instead of keeping inmates gainfully occupied, have become graduate schools for criminals---and among the things they teach are disarming and resisting peace officers and anyone else who might stand between them and escape.

Neat, this almost sounds like it belongs in off topic at this point!

I love the forum, it's better than reality TV.

This, kids is why God invented concealed carry licences. Had I been in the same situation, the mexican kid would have gotten to see daddy's Glock. I would have asked him if he felt stupid for bringing a knife to a gun fight. Then I would have raced his ass just to add insult to injury.

Exactly, pull out a Taurus Raging Bull .454 with the 12" long barrel, doesn't matter what they are carrying because you just pulled out a hunting revolver that can stop a charging moose in a single shot.

yes pull your gun - untill the next time the mexican brings an illegal assult weapon to said gunfight allong with his posse

to avoid any potential future backlash the guy needs to leave the situation with some sort of respect or indifference for you - not a foul tasting memory of someone who insulted him and drew a knife or gun on him (even if he drew first) - the best thing to do would be to be very diplomatic and ask him if that meant he wanted to race, perhaps appologize for seeming rude but you were already talking to this other fellow. meanwhile with your weapon at ready out of his site just incase he didn't wise up. Sadly mind games are often the only way to guarantee that you don't get stabbed/shot another night or your car doesn't get vandalized.

that's rediculous. only pussies pull knives. I keep my tire-iron (the 20" one that came with the fiero) in the trunk. if you did have to defend yourself, it would have been nice to reach in there and have it at your disposal.

Kohburn, I respect your opinion and being non-confrontational will get you out of situations. However, an unprovoked attack where someone threatens you with a knife because you don't want to race him doesn't imply logic. Most people who brandish a weapon unprovoked are cowards and will back down when faced with equal or greater force; as was the case this time. Bare in mind however in most states, the author would have been well within his rights to shoot his ass.

well **** i mean idk. I figured that impalas have an 8cyl (right?) So i figured there wasnt even any point in racing him...perhaps thats what he got mad about...but it seemed that my saying "congradulations" and turning my back on him was what pissed him off. I am definitly gooing to look into a concealed heandgun permit when im old enough....but i still prefer rubber batons over real bullets. I want there to be a chance he will survive. Maybe hell learn after all his ribs are mended?

Well doesnt matter what gun is pulled if i have only got a knife i dont care if you pull a .25 or a 357 i dont want part of either.of course I dont carry a knife and dont have a carry permit , here it is not a concelled permit it is just a carry permit it does not have to be concelled, I keep a berette 9mm in truck and a cheap pos 45 in the fiero, but a .22 would get job done.
