I have always loved the look of side pipes on a vehicle and would like to put them on my . They would have to be functional as a way to vent heat from the radiator? I would rather have some purpose for them. Most everyone knows that the is a mid-engine car, so I would much rather have a reason to use them... maybe I could run the air conditioning through each and store six packs in them, anything! So, take a look at the mock-up and let me know what you think!

although i doubt the validity of this post...i'll bite

sidepipes are cool although useless on a fiero. i have seen a fiero with exhausts that exit forward of the rear wheels, i'll try and locate a pic for you in a few minutes.

Wonder how they will look sitting on a speedbump? There sure won't be much ground clearance.

i like the exit before the rear wheel but wouldnt that leave the gt rear bumper looking kinda funny? i always wanted side exit on my car kinda like a ford lightning has. right through the rocker, its totaly doable but what to do with the rear bumper looking empty, as for the picture of side pipes it makes no sence to have them from front to back like that , no offence but i think its a terrible idea. the only cars i think that looks good on is vette sting rays and cobras and a few other select cars.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like I'm going to get some razzing on this one. "Some people are so desparate for attention, they'll even suggest putting side pipes on a !" or... "Side pipes on , that's about as usefull as flashlight to a blind man!" (my appologies to any blind people reading this post)

I thought about doing this myself. Putting a stock single in dual out muffler in place of the cat and running the exhaust to each side righ tin front of the tire. the only way I could see getting the exhaust out the side is to drop it below the cradle and then I am just concerned with catching it on things.

Looks horrible!

The one's in that link looked nice. They have to be comeing through the rocker panels to look good. Check out a Roush Mustang GT for ideas.

Hey, there ya go.. Ram-Air Exhaust Scoops! Backpressure? Naah.

You know... it COULD work - route the exhaust from the Y pipe, down to the cat to a "T" pipe that goes sideways to each tip just forward of each wheel well. Ya never know. Creativity points for sure.

Thanks for helping me to move on and get the "side pipe" idea out of my head. Sometimes you have to say something out loud. How long before I can be rated, I hope it's not for this flight of fancy.

What's the male equivalent of a "Hottie"? Ya, ya, that's it, quick change the subject, that's the ticket.

On one of my future projects, I have plans for what you might call sidepipes. They will look radically different from what you've seen here & they will be fully functional. With the amount of pipe it's going to take to run the exhaust forward then turn around and bring them back down the sides, you can bet it's gonna sound sweet.

But this thread has told me that I shouldn't show any in process pics of them. You'll just see what they look & sound like when I'm done.

I say go for it, I have always wanted to see how long it would take Fiero rocker covers to melt.

I say if you like it and want to do it, then DO IT.

Just because some people here don't like it, and say it looks bad, doesn't mean it can't be done and look nicely. And really, who's car is it anyways?

I have been thinking about how side exhaust would look on a Fiero for a while. Having the exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheels and being integrated into the GFX of the car would look nice I think.

As far as the side pipes go, I think having pipes running down the sides might make people stop and wonder where the engine might be. A little mystery is a good thing.

Again, it's your car, do it if you wan't to. You can always change it back if you decide you don't like it.

OMG a Capri, You dont see these around anymore. I Loved these cars. They had everything the mustang had but came stock with Recaro seats. And fender flairs. If you took off the mustang GT body kit and placed itr on the capri, you would have a flared mustang with ALL the bells and whistles. DO you still have it.

F-I-E-R-O, if you do those sidepipes, then I recommend you paint it lime green and put some F&F stickers on there. Gotta complete the look, ya know?

Seriously though, I seem to remember seeing a pic of a Fiero posted on here awhile back that was at a show with side pipes. Sorry I'm not that good with the search function.

Ya, ya, ya... the difference is I was thinking thta they could some how be functional, maybe as a unique way of cooling something down. I'm just reachin to try and justify the look and was hoping that I'd get more love and support here. Sniff, sniff, but all you want to do is tease me... sniff.

I think side pipes would look cool that just came out the side..like right before the back wheels or right behind them. like just seeing the tip no big pipes. Dunno how well that would work though
