you'll have to email for any questions reguarding pricing, i'm not involved with that, however, i believe it's straight-up pricing. don't forget group buys.... looks like if 13 people bought at once, everyone could save 40-50 bucks!!!

...umm, aren't you phil? Or is your windshield banner just advertising his shop?
Anyhow, isn't 400 bucks US just a little much for the top bar? I can get one made up at a shop around here for just a few hundred canadian. Sorry; I won't be buying. That's waaay too pricey for something that simple.
Good luck with the sales though.

Question: Why would you have such small plates watercut? You could save a bundle by having them milled or laser cut. Watercutting is only cheaper (and faster) on very large projects...
I really liked the idea when it was brought up. In fact I had a little different of an idea that required drilling before I saw this. I figured I'd buy one......Until I saw the outrageous price! I could get leather seats with the strap slots in them for almost the same price. Maybe a buck fifty or at the most two but four hundred? Looks like I'll have to make my own.
I’m going to echo what you are already hearing. How much could it cost for the waterjet cuts? It is a nice setup and I am sure they can still make money on it and charge less for it.
Good luck Jake

i just want everyone to know, I have nothing to do with the pricing
I have been looking to have a guide bar and extinguisher mount made for several years, and am very familiar with his work on high quality automobiles, both full restorations as well as track-prepped supercars. his attention to detail is unconceivable, and the engineering behind all of his parts is second to none. if you can't afford it, don't buy it. i just wanted to share this unique item with the forum members, as i know there are racers and autocrossers out there that know what they want. you cannot duplicate this bar for the money!!! p.s. i make no money on the sales of these products, but rest assured, i would not hit the track without one!!!!

"I figured I'd buy one......Until I saw the outrageous price! I could get leather seats with the strap slots in them for almost the same price."
Amen to that!
That is exactly why I made my own harness brackets for under $10 buck! It is not too hard and think of all the money I saved for other necessary horsepower improvements. Been autocrossing on by 10 buck brackets for over fours years now with no problems.

This is the most OVER priced item I think we will ever see. I was thinking $150 This is a simple product.
What I will do however is, save the pictures and have a shop make them localy for a fraction of the cost.
I know you not Phill and you say, "if you can't afford it, don't buy it."
I dont think that it is so much that people cant afford it, but that it is a grossly overpriced and not worth it. Good luck. Let us know if decides to come off that high horse.
Yea, I was going to buy one as well, but 400 dollars for a piece of tube, and two endplates? Please don't get me wrong, I am not questioning Phil's quality of work, as it seems to be top notch. But still, 400 bucks for a piece of tube. The sub strap is fairly priced, why not the shoulder bar?
Also, I see that you took the pics off everything but the actual website. And all links for the site down, Why? For those that are seriously interested, which I still might be, now they have nothing to look at???
I hate to say it dude, but this community is about helping each other, but with the addittude "Line my pockets, but if you don't, then I won't help anybody" You won't get very welly respected here. 99% of the people on this board are here to help other Fiero owners, not to take advantage of them.
Lastly, You said earlier that you don't get any commision, or anything for any amount that Phil sells. With that being said, why do you care if someone takes the design and has someone else make it for them? You shouldn't be concerned. If anybody should, it should be Phil. It won't be any money out of your pocket, but yet, you took pics down, and links down? I would personally let his workmanship talk for itself, and if people don't want it, then let them find something else, but don't be an a$$ about it.

As I have become more familiar with track events, I have been exposed to all kinds of track prepped cars from datsuns to porsches. I have searched for quite some time to find a harness guide bar for the fiero, just to come up empty. I couldn't believe that after these cars have been around for 21 years, no one offered this item. I've priced other harness bars for other cars, and they typically range from $300 to $525. Sure, I could just drill holes in my car and run bolts through, but that just didn't seem like the solution FOR ME!!! This offering was aimed at those who may feel the same.

I was not authorized to post the pics that I did, and removed them at the shop's request. the link is still active, and the bars are still available,
IRONICALLY, i thought by sharing this never before available product WITH the forum, that i WAS helping others. again, i make NOTHING of the sale of these items, so i don't understand why you would call me or anyone an A$$. Who did i take advantage of? Not cool!

What's your point? Just because other cars' harness bars cost that much, this one has to as well? Does 'phil' think that a piece of tube and a few endplates can be hyped up to the point where they are worth that much money?
I mean, if all the other cars jumped off a bridge...?
Sure, making some money's awesome, and I fully support the members of our community who get a little bit of profit off of us, (Darrell, Rodney, WCF, and so on) but their products are fairly priced! OK, so they make a few bucks, but their products are top-notch and they deserve every penny. They don't look at the price sheets at their local toyota dealer, and say "Wow, the Toyota guys sell engine mounts for 250 bucks, why shouldn't I?" (Merely an example. I know nothing of Toyota. )
On another note, I'll be heading down to the local metal shops to compare prices. Anyone interested?

has these bars been aprooved by scca officals or by nhra officals ?
I think I'll try making my own. I have a friend with a bending brake, so I will make the endplates out of 3/16 inch stock by using a vertical bandsaw and make it smooth with a grinder and upright sander. Then bend them to fit correctly. Next I'll get tube stock and cut it to length on my horizontal bandsaw. Since I have a welder I'll weld all three parts together. Then drill the mounting holes for the original belts. The mounting hardware will be seat belt bolts from a 60/40 bench seat Oldsmobile. Now I'll weld on the seatbelt guides made from heat molded round stock. I make it sound easy. Well it really isn't hard anyway. Ed

This is my 1st post to this fantastic forum. I've been reading it for about a year now and felt the need to join just to voice my own opinion. I've been folllowing this thread since it first started. This product is just what I've been looking for. If it doesn't hurt the interior and goes right in, price shouldn't be an issue, its only money. Sure you can buy the I.O Port part cheaper, but by looking only at pictures there is no way it can work. It is placed up too high and the seat belt angles would be all wrong and I can't imagine that your head won't hit it. If your handy sure you can make your own variation. Now that the idea was presented there isn't even any thinking involved, how convienent. For the short time that the stainless steel bar was shown that was all I needed. My money has already been sent. Its sad that people are slammin this part just because of a money thing. Come on we're better than that.

You can ask for all the money you want. I just won't be the fool to pay it. It's a very simple design that can be replicated easily by the home enthusiast. If this product wasn't so ridiculously overpriced it wouldn't be worth replicating at home. I would be more satisfied by making it myself than paying so much for it already made. If you have the money to pay for it good for you, you can overpay for it I won't mind.

Has anyone wanting this harness bar thought about installing a roll bar instead?
BTDT........got the T-shirt
And it was less than $400 for the rolllbar as well.
I usually don't chime in on threads like this, but seriously, $400 for two plates, a piece of tubing and a few minutes on the welder is a bit high...............I think my complete rollbar was like $325.
Heck, if there is that much demand for a bar like this, I'd start churning these out on the weekend. At a reasonable price
Just my $0.02.............take it for what it's worth,

I already did. With harness brackets mounted to the rear deck firewall and the deck lid hinge in the engine compartment. Total cost is under $10 for self made steel brackets. That is all you need is mounting brackets for the shoulder portion of the harness.
