What do you think about these bad boys?

they sound amazing...imaging is a little off on the drivers side, but this shot of the passenger side is DEAD on as far as image is concerned...

BTW, 10" sub box is already fiberglassed...anyone from SK who wants to take a peek can PM me... I'll make you one and get you the equipment for a good price!

EDIT: What, you think i actually remembered to add the image?

Great. I really like them.

Have you thought about making the kick panel and selling it without the speaker. I would get one if it was priced right.

YIKES it is dirty and needs a shift boot and...... won't the speakers get kicked and trashed on the floor like that? Looks like a lot of dirt could get in and rattle around in them. Correct me if I am wrong.

I will try to figure out how much fiberglass I used. You will have to send me your core panel and I will build on top of that. They are not easy to make, TONS of sanding and work done to them, but it is worth it and absolutely rock!

Lemme figure out how much

Well, it would be completely hand made, no mold or anything (uses stock panel and is glassed onto that), so it might not be priced right, but will be cheaper than getting a local shop to do a shitty job on it

that's where i always put mine, except i haven't worked out molding it to the original trim in a fiero (did my blazer and chevy like that though). you get to where you automaticly tell people to watch out for them when they get in and out.

i put the stuff i was trying at the time in this thread...
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20030204-1-021927.html

the 2nd set of 8" pods came out a little better. when i get home again i have a set of 6x9's i'm going to put in my cheap thrill project in the same area. should be easier than the 8's if set in vertically.

Where do you put your feet? Aren't you afraid someone/driver will put their foot through the speaker?

i've put them in my various cars since about '96 or so. never more of a problem than paint getting scuffed on them so a repaint occassionaly puts them back to right.

as the driver with mostly manual cars i don't have my feet on the dead pedals anyway. even with my auto fiero i'm not in the habit of using them. and, as stated, the first thing i tell passengers is to look out for them when they get in. i have a 6'6" brother and that makes the effort for him to get in a little harder but beyond that it's no problem for passengers either.

Pretty nice design Aus, but I think it's a little "bulky". I'm almost finished installing my 6" mid driver in a kickpanel that mounts parallel with the wall just infront of the doors. It's built out a bit, but i think it's going to be very practical. I'll post some pics of it when i'm done.

I like it... but i have a subwoofer that might interfere with that speaker placement.. Its kinda right next to that.

I like it though...

My friends are kinda clumsy at times and have only scuffed the gray areas..and that wipes off with a damp cloth..

I figured out what I would charge - around $250 + shipping and the core panel...

$200 for saskatoonians and i guess for smooth if he ever takes a look at this thread

EDIT: all prices in Canadian dollers, so you US people get a bargain

250 Canadian, which is something like 175-200 USD depending on the day...

These are 100% hand built, and if you give me one speaker with grille, they will fit your speaker PERFECTLY...those in the picture were made for those speakers directly, and add a nice touch to the finish.

They are molded right onto the factory kick panel. They are speckle painted for accurate texture and are painted to match interior.

I suggest you give me your actual panels so I am sure they fit perfectly into your car. Pictures of your car would be nice so i can maybe style them differently to suit a certain design scheme...I can do almost anything with a bit-o-fiberglass

These have 4 coats of fiberglass - one is a stretchy fabric, rest are mat. They bring out the midbass so much, words can not describe the sound quality difference. With 6.5's they really hit hard if you amplify the speaker signal. There is absolutely no guessing as I use lasers to point exactly where the imaging is with the speakers. I can custom image them to the center of the car (most common) or to driver or passenger's listening positions.

In short, these kick panels are GREAT. YOu will DEFINATELY notice a difference in the sound quality!

I can also make tweeter pods in the corner of the dash too (in progress for my car).

Thank you for your interest,

Blaine Korte

I looked at those also, but my only concern is with tweeter placement. The drivers side would fail to be anywhere near accurate, simply because of Fiero design - eg, steering wheel, drivers legs, etc..

I've also been asked before if mine are actually stock, because they are painted and look very stock, actually...

The only reason they are priced high is because they take a LONG time to make by hand, and i have to buy fiberglass at PartSource and they are friggin expensive

THanks
Blaine
