Is there a general agreemnt as to what is the rarest of all (street driven)Fiero's? What combination of options, paint, upgrades, etc, makes for the HOLY GRAIL of Fieros to own?

T-tops weren't technically factory made. Also, rare and rare and desirable are two different things. For example, the 87 SE 4 may be quite rare, but not especially desirable.
My vote is for the pace car.

option: in 84 is the engine screen cover that when you open the engine deck lid this shade would block the engine. I don't have a 84 owners manual but it shows it in it. I have never seen one except in the manual in 84-85 the sheep skin seats in 86 or 87 the tan suede seats and the heater block option in 88 is the power lumbar seat or t-tops or the gold gt wheels color: blue 1987, yellow 1988 car it self: Indy, formula complete rarest car ???????????? It all depends on the collector (example: which would a collector want?) 1988 Yellow GT with no AC or 1988 Yellow GT with t-tops and AC?
You tell me, I like going to fiero events and see the rarest car there, because it's usually a fiero that they made alot of but people always try to collect the rarest, case in point: FOCOA Nationals, in Osage, lot's of blue and yellow stock fieros, but only one gold GT, you see if everyone collects or puts away the rarest colors, it's rare in stat's but not at the show. Just my 2 cents

Based ona previous post on Formulas with t-tops the burgundy Formula t-top came in as one of the rarer ones. 36 or so made. I know where there is one in Australia
'87 SE 4cyl cars totaled 3,875. '87 6cyl SE cars totaled 3135. Roughly 10% of production in '87 was in blue, from a total of 4458 blue cars out of 46581 Fieros. There is no specific breakdown of model by color for years prior to '88, so it can only be estimated by percentage. Probably about 380 blue 4cyl SEs and about 310 blue 6cyl SEs.
Silver and yellow in 1988 have the lowest production numbers of any color for all five years. They are close in quantity, but for each color there are fewer GTs with it.
Total T-Top Cars Formula: 547 of 5643 (10%) GT: 614 of 6842 (9%)
Total Yellow Cars Formula: 436 GT: 241
Total Silver Cars Formula: 261 GT: 257
Medium Reds are much higher, 567 and 794 for Fomula & GT respectively, so they're out of the running even for T-Top cars.
Looks like of all these, there's roughly 25 each of silver T-Top Formulas & GTs, and yellow T-Top GTs - and 13 of each with 5-speeds.
EDIT: forgot to add, 52% of '88 V6 production was 5-speed.
I remember reading somewhere about a special Micheal Andretti edition (only a few produced). I'll see if I can find the old pix. Anyone else have any info on this one?

sunbird turbo swapin more of a dealer redo than true factory car as are the muria's
more of a dealer sold opt, that GM built car
my want list is the al alloy cars al-can did 4 of one had a turbo V6 too but not realy stock GM car as al-can built it
I think a 88 formula with NO OPTs at all and factory DELETEs like no radio or heater or inslulation for a club racers would be very rare in any color!!!
like the old RPO/CPO cars were for dragracers in the 60's were done.
if they even did one or a few for fieros at all. ------------------ Question wonder and be wierd are you kind?

OOPS! Mine used to be a 1988 Silver GT with inflatable lumbar! But I guess you don't see too many Purple GT's with a Supercharged 3800 these days.

Other websites have 3875 87 SEs and 3135 87 Coupes...
Of the SEs: 2474 were V6s 1401 were 4-cyls
Anyone know what the real production numbers for the 87 SE?

Well, my vote would be for a one-off car, like the 1985 SE with a V-6 which came in Blue from the factory. As mentioned in an old thread here, it DOES exist, and it DOES have a note on the Service Parts Identification label under the hood identifying the paint as a special factory paint job in Medium Blue Metallic, the same color eventually used in 1987. It has my vote for rarity. After being rescued from an Atlanta Junkyard, it now sits at Ed Parks Fiero Factory in Toney AL waiting for a complete restoration to factory fresh. Do a search here on Pennocks for the old threads if you want.

I had completely forgotten about that car- I would agree as well. It was produced by the factory as a one-off. You can't get any more unique than that (especially considering that all the numbers match down to the paint code). Good call John!
On a related topic... anyone know a current status on this car?
"Blacktree" this was from the Pontiac Historic society, back in the early 90's, this is just a tad of the stuff I have collected over many years. If you look in the archieves under general chat, I'm been writting a book about the 88 t-top cars, called preserving the open air excitement, if you find the post, I know it's long and I know that it gets off the topic at some point, but I'm not a person to want to hash it all up, but if you find it enjoy, and I'm hopefully hoping to have a pro-to-type for people to see at the 20th anniversary. Thank you to Ray Paulk and John Wilhoff (88 database guy) for all your help so far!

Doug- There's probably a few more Indys w/o A/C rotting away in Canada. I have seen at least 2 over the years. Many Fieros were not ordered with air up there (I have 4!!!!).
Kelvin- Nice wish list. Mine is very similar. I had a chance at a blue 87 SE w/getrag a few years back- D'OH!

I have to disagree. Everybody keeps saying that the T-Tops were not "factory" since the installation and manufacture was subcontracted out.
By this definition, half the parts on the Fiero are "not factory"
The frame was designed and made by Entech, then drop shipped to Pontiac's Fiero assembly plant ready for other stuff to be added on.
Most of the K-Frames were made by Buick, water pumps, engine blocks, leather upholstery, Delco made the stereos, yadda yadda yadda.
As far as I am concerned, "Factory" is what ever it looked like when delivered to the Dealer.
And as for rarity, that depends on wheather we are talking stictly about "models" or "option combinations"(ie, are we talking about Indy's or Indy's with Auto Trannys?).

No Problem "Blacktree" as for Steve Normington I have always believe even though something is out sourced, it's stii a factory option (IN PONTIACS EYES)if it shows up on the factory rpo sticker of the front fender well, That documents the factory options doesn't it! (I hope you don't think I'm disrespecting you in my answer because it is not intended) Another car with the same thing of out sourcing is the Tran-am/formula convertible or the flat hatchback decklid, "out-sourced" but documented on the rpo codes as a factory option. Just my 2 cents
if 26402 is the last 88 my latest formula #25660 is in the last thousand made 742 from the end of production but not an original car now with a GT nose and rear bumper, cut in sun roof, and soon to be a N* swaper too.
