umm no idea the speedo stops at 120

what I'd do for a stock looking 140 speedo.. I'll have to test the 3800 SC out when I'm done of course

88 GT 3.2L with lots of little extras and 440T4 -> FAST Enough!

Short story, coming home the 4th of July 2002 some time after midnight I finally got a chance to try out the "new engine" after 3000+ miles of break-in driving. An early 1990's or late 1980's Camaro was antagonizing me, i.e., getting in front of me and slowing down repeatedly. That is, I had cruise on 70MPH, but after 20 minutes - EGO was like "do it." After traffic thinned and cleared I put the car in third gear and held it to the floor until the speedometer pegged out and proceed to put it into 4th. The Camaro kept up for a spell and either backed-off or hit a speed limiter - sudden deceleration as if the engine was turned off - I don't know but the car pulled over and stopped apparently.

Top speed... more than 120MPH! Extrapolating based on the fact that the car with the 440T4 in overdrive 80 MPH is 2050 RPM's. It was around 3800 RPM's, maybe a little more or less, or about 148 MPH with room left to spare.

I suspect this is one reason why the Fireo did not come with an overdrive trasnaxle.

Disclaimer, this isn't my usual mode of driving. The road was clear except for the other car behind me when this took place. Yeah, no excuse, so don't bother to tell me about how irresponsible it was.

Duh! Humans really are creatures of habit, the 88GT is an automatic. I suppose I have not owned the 5 speed Coupe long enough yet. That is, until last year I never owned a maunal. Haha! - To Self

Since you didn't specify engine make....or vehicle.

81 cubic inch Kawasaki (1327cc).
IDBA FunnyBike
28lb boost on H&H Blue Racing Gas...with single stage nitrous.

18 Years ago.....

Ran 71 mph in 60 ft. ( 1.09 sec)

(thats 0-60 in less than 1 second...just for those keeping score)

8.39 sec @ 162 mph in the 1/4 ...most of it on one wheel...( an 11" wide Goodyear car slick)

But....Today, that level of performance would not even qualify in a 32 bike field.

But it was a RUSH to ride.....

I've done 83mph in the Fiero (didn't mean to be speeding - day I bought the car, looked at the speedo and I was going 33mph over.. oops..), 103 in the Taurus, and 130+ in a friend's ElDorado.

165mph and still has some rpm left. The speed was indicated from a Viper GTS running along side me. We were on a long, hummmm, yea that's it, race track, it was two lanes that seemed to go on forever! Don't know what the top speed is and may never find out. Car felt real good at that speed, but it's a heart beat rush when you're sitting lower than a Corvette.

From the last 2 posts, it looks as though some people need to take a dump before attempting a high speed run.

A higher degree of concentration to maintain control is required at high speed. If one cannot control basic body functions, don't speed.

Nascar and F1 drivers don't have a body function control problem.

My little Duke in the 85 had the speedo needle pointing straight down on the 80 going from DuBois to Clearfield. The car felt alright, but I think it needs new joints and the like. I'm sure a tight new suspension would make it feel tight. But the wheezy little 151 (I like that number) does alright for what it is.

LOL! it wasn't that.. ya know just seeing the cops made me say OH SHI!! course there was another fiero goin to so it probably looked normal I slowed down after that and was kept looking for brake lights, but never saw them. Last time I really sped with my car.. those speeds don't scare me just seeing cops at those speeds do.

That must be "Mach .10" that ran 75 mph.

Also went to local car show tonight, some dude with an Acura NSX saw my sticker sticker states "Imports are like tampons, every pussy's got one." Dont wanna offend anyone, but this asian in his 92 Acura NSX looks like my car over like hawk, it wasnt funny, like I was gonna hang with him in a race.. (Sure enough could LOL)

I don't have a fiero yet.
I've hit 120mph in my turbo grand prix without overdrive(o/d has a rev limiter once I get a upgrade chip I should hit 130 to 140)
it hauls butt. I can swirve though traffic with no problem at 110mph gaining on a dump civic it fun.
