The chevy v8 northstar v8 4.9 v8ect are nice engines
The 3800 sc 1 and 2 are nice engines along with the 3.4 and 3100s
We should focus more on smoking the 4cyl vtec imports out there with the fast and furious rice package. with the extra NOS!!! sticker to give it a additional 20hps.

You know, there is a lot to be said about vtec though. I wish I could build that into the 390 I'll be building.. Have it turn onto a massive cam at 4000.. Now that would kick ass..

Its not all about the 1/4 mile to me. Im proud to say my car has never been on a trailer and every time I race it, I drove it to the track. Cars that come to the track on trailers are called race cars. My car is a street car, a daily driven street car at that. I dont race "race cars", I race "street cars". Id actually rather race at the Texas motorplex at Ennis. I could drive down there and get 30 mpg doing it. Thats a bit closer to home for you, and its alot nicer than anything you can find in Oklahoma.
So what do you have a "race" car or a "street" car.
By your definition, CoolBlue's 87 GT is a race car.

Hey Ryan, I'll pony up $500 as well, only I'm going to race you in my 2.8
I get to pick the road course is all. (hey, it's not all about 1/4 mile, right?)
I'll drive to the track too.
Glad to hear your car's back together. Minor mechanical gremlins are to be expected, and dealt with, when pushing the power envalope like you are.
Best! Ben.

Variable valve timing is really just a hack to be able to run the Hi-power cam you want, and still granny the car around at 800rpm.
I have been very impressed with Honda S2000s on the track though. Think of it like a Miata, with factory LSD, and 240hp. One guy has a Comptech S/C and is running ~340hp, that car is insane with the tail-slides out of tight corners!
Best! Ben.

Hey Xlax I didn't spend New Years alone, you wanna know why? Because I am not some ugly redneck from KS. Now lets be serious, Don Krauss I believe has a great looking and fast 3800sc based car yet does he come here and flame the v8 guys? What about Cali-kid? One of the coolest fieros, and he doesn't go around trashing everyone without a sbc. I would take his car, Skitimes, Kameo Kids, etc over some piece of **** hacked job engine transplant(and lets not lie X you did a real **** job just to see what kind numbers you could get )OR some lawn ornament targa conversion( George can be found in his front yard sitting in the drivers seat, making VARROOOOOMMMMM! noises) Hey Dave nice videos, a car the RUNS, and is MECHANICALLY SOUND, and LOOKS GOOD. WHAT A CONCEPT! You should give your buddies some pointers.

I thought you didnt like these kind of posts? Dont you feel like a jacka$$ wasting cliff's bandwidth.
Sorry, but i would rather see people arguing over who's car is faster, rather than people telling them to shutup about it.
Um nevermind....Look I respect the numbers you have made with your car, I have said that before. What gets me is you and a few other forum memeber have a way of turning a simple topic, like...Oh I don't know, how about "THE SKY IS BLUE" into "NO ITS NOT BLUE AND MY V8 OR V6 (depending on who you are) IS GONNA WHIP YOUR CAR BECUASE its a SCV6(Its so hightech) or SBCV8 ( I got the WOW factor and bling bling to back it up word) There are DSM's, RX7's, and 944T's that would role you up and smoke you and thats from a I4.

rumors are so funny. Ok think how stupid this sounds: something flammable being used as a heat shield. I had (note had as in past tense) a block of wood as a vibration insulator for my torque strut mount. Now I have a dog bone setup and it works well, except the fact that I sploded the rubber out in 1 day. So I have a poly one on order right now. As for a coat hanger, My exhaust is so short there are no hangers on it at all. It entirely self supported back to the header bolts.

Have to agree with Ben on this one.
I'd even jump into a bet for road course racing. My choice of track, X and I both drive to track, bet wager is $3,000 each up front, race lenght 50 laps. I only believe in betting on sure things.
sorry you dont run the kind of numbers that "X" <(hows that ryan?) does with a hack- job. nachtzehrer6- and your fiero is something to brag about? let me see what you have done with your car.
You are all forgetting one thing. The 20th Anniversary event this July in Michigan will have a 1/4 mile event as well as a road race / Auto X events. This is the one chance for everyone to be in the same place at the same time. Time for everyone to put there money where there mouth is. I hope you all take advantage of this opportunity because I for one would pay to see the grudge matches. We would have timeslips and video of it all. Time to step up guys.

I knew guys would start pulling together if you had a reason to. I am not running anything special, as a matter of fact its a 1.8 liter, 90hp beat around car and I doubt you'd be interested in the 1/4 mile times. Then again I am missing somthing....When did I say I had a fast car? My point which was made in a very crude and tasteless fashion is this, Why does every thread that has anything do to with V8's or 3800's turn into an "X bashing session" or exactly the opposite a "V8s are for old guys" Come on did you see X's last post in the O/T section? Gets real tired after awhile. With that being said, cardealer you have proven you lack basic reading comprehension skills. I never said my fiero was anything special, probably because I don't own one. Don't take that as a flame but you got off track. This applies to you as well Smoooooth GT, I never said anything about my car, I can't afford one right now because I just dumped a couple grand into my education.

Smmmoooooth....This is too good. Do you think maybe you could have tried to put that all in once post? Dont' be a hypocrite. Let me try to break this down.
1."Well... If you see a thread like this and your that tired of it, THEN DONT CLICK ON IT.... " Yeah ok then don't be like me. Just shutup, give me a negative rating, email Cliff tell him I have hurt your feelings, ( before you dispute that, you said you were pissed off. I am sorry for hurting you feelings.), join a support group.
2. "Please talk to people here on PFF(Cliff's house) like you would want to be talked to... please!!"......Now let me quote you from earlier on...... "JUST SHUT THE f^CK up!!!" .......Thats not very nice and its also very contradictory.
3. Here is an interesting tidbit, you stating you were not talking about my car...."I never said you did... Just started all this Please stop!" BUT once again your earlier post betrays you..."What's under YOUR decklid" and "Show US your timeslip's"
4. "Please don't answer, because it'll be a rude comment" I just did buddy. Question is what can you do about. Nothing really.

If you guys spent 1/2 as much time working on your cars as you do bickering you would have 9 sec cars.
I believe there is a gentleman with a yellow V8 coupe on the forum that is running 11.3's. And the car is driven quite a bit. I forget his name , and i forget the thread title. it's a4spd yellow v8 with black stripes. running a 400sbc, 4spd , and some sort of marine waterpump setup. Very ingenious setup.
I agree with 72vinman , take it to Michigan.
