I was actually gonna post a thread about this, but I cant my PIP to work! ARRRGG! Anyway Ive got two Fiero models...both are the 85 GT/86 SE style. Ive got one done up to look JUST like an Indy...I even put on the Indy decals that I bought off ebay! I then installed the 4 banger model engine in it I had from a 4 banger Fiero parts car model (no body) to make it just like an Indy. It mated right up to the stock V6 model tranny! And the other one I painted silver w/ grey int to match my daily driver. But on the silver one I did alittle "mini V8 Archie" and installed a V8 model engine out of a Trans Am model I bought. It took some modification, but it fit, looks stock, and it even mated up perfectly to the stock V6 model tranny! (I had to cut the tranny off the T/A engine...the block and tranny were one piece. Looks cool! Ive gotta get my PIP fixed!!!!!

Hey...

The Monogram Fiero model that they SAY is an 85 GT is basically a notchback WITH rounded trim! It would make a perfect base for an 87 notchback model. I just traded mine to XDREWX for a fastback model but I know that other guys on the forum have'em. I wanna build a model of my car (87 GT) when it's completed.

They're all over eBay. Don't let the "85" put you off. It ain't no 85!

2Low...
If you don't have a set yet, get some "Micro-Scale" polishing cloths to even out the body paint. If done right, it'll look like it's still wet when you're finished!!

Nice Job!
Which model kit is that, and who makes it?
Does it have all the up-front stuff too, it looks like the hood will open when its done.
I have wanted a Fiero model for quite some time, but like banditbalz, I cant quite bring myself to pay $50 for it.

It is an ERTL model #6401. He is trying to match the colors that are in the instructions. I was playing around with the aero colors trying to decide on what color to paint mine, but now that 86black GT is for sale and I have my 87blue GT, I let him finish the model for me. I think he is doing the red to match his dad's car (Chester). Ahh, now both of our teens are converted over to the Fiero world!

Hey FieroKid87, I'm in the process of making a 88 formula (or you can call it that) read on and you will know what I mean further down in this post, and if you want to make a formula close to the real one or 87 coupe in your case you will need 2 kits, formula users you will need 3 kits:
MAKING 87-88 YOU WILL NEED:
85 Monogram Fiero GT kit
85 MPC Black or Silver fiero on the box (NOT THE RED I REPEAT NOT THE RED 84 MPC "HAS WRONG DECK LID"
You use everything from the mpc kit, the only thing you use from the 85 Monogram kit for making 87-88 coupe is the rear battery covers and the wheels from it BUT remember the 2 modles are different scales!

MAKE 88 FORMULA YOU WILL NEED 4 KITS (IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT AS LIFE LIKE AS POSSIBLE):
85-MPC black or silver fiero on the box ONLY see above instructions for reason
85 Monogram fiero GT
MPC FIERO GT red or black one on the box doesn't matter
89-90 Monogram firebird formula(red or black on the car box)

NOW HERES WHAT YOU WILL USE FROM EACH KIT TO MAKE A FORMULA:

85 MPC kit you will use the complete body and interior (NOTE FOR THE FORMULA OR BASIC COUPE ABOVE YOU WILL HAVE TO SAND AND GRIND AND FILL IN THE FRONT AND REAR FASCIAS TO GET THEM TO LOOK LIKE THE 87-88 FASCIA AND IT WORKS (I HAVE DONE IT) I DON'T HAVE DIGITAL CAMERA TO SHOW YOU ALL, BUT WHEN I'M DONE (I'LL GET THEM OUT HERE)
85 Monogram kit you will use the the battery covers, and the spoiler
MPC Fiero GT you will use the V6 engine, and wheels and tires
Lastly the Monogram Firebird formula(the only thing you use from the Monogram firebird is the formula decal Thats it!

Hopefully you have extra parts, so you don't have to open, unopen kits to make this (but if you got to have it "look real" then go ahead. (NOTE: I WILL TAKE ANYONES OLD AND BROKEN FIERO PIECES AFTER YOU BUILT YOU FIERO MODEL "ANYONE" JUST EMAIL ME)

I'm glad some one put this post on the forum hopefully more fiero guys will post pictures of thier model cars, as for my self I love fiero models(only) and I put a lot of detail into them,BUT I CAN'T PAINT A BODY TO SAVE MY LIFE, I have started 6 different fieros, but have not finished any of them (only work on them in the winter) the rest of the time I play with the real ones in the garage!

FIERO JOHN..

E-mail me next time you do a special model. My "kitbashing" skills are fair-to-midland but I'm getting to be a real SOB with an airbrush and polishing kit. I can give you some good hints on painting and even spray one for you if you want.

In order for me to build an accurate replica of my car, I'm gonna need to "bash" the ERTL/AMT Fiero GT, a 2001-2 Mustang GT, a Ferrari 306 or GTO, Monogram's Acura model (beautiful wheels / alone worth the price of the kit) and some serious aftermarket photoetched detail stuff. I probably won't have this thing finished until spring.

Now if you have some real good models, the Dells Runs has a car class for Fiero Models with trophys and FIERO JOHN-WI needs some more competition. So come to the Dells Run 2002 with your Fiero and Fiero models.
May 30-June 2, 2002.

Time to start plugging the shows for the Prezzz.

Maybe you put the brake's on backwards... I almost put them on so the rotors where sticking out to the front, but they have to go on the other way, if you put them on backwards the tires wouldnt sit properly in the wheel well and will stick out more...

Anyways I should be done with the model tonight and will post more pics of it asap. I need to fix the windshield and one of the sailpanels. I hate what plastic cement does to clear plastic, makes it all foggy. and I got some glue on the windshield and tried REALLLY fine sand paper to get it off, but just scratched up the windshield a bit, so I will have to get those fixed somehow...

Another clue about the clear plastic,

When you get it all polished, clean it off , wash off well, remove (skin oil) from handling.
Let dry. Make sure no lint is left behind.

Then get some Future clear floor wax, pour into clean dish, fill it up enough to "dunk"
the clear plastic in.

Dip the clear plastic in, (pull out) then let it sit till it dries. (Important -
let dry fully)

While waiting, pour wax back into can, wash out bowl, get a cold one from the fridge,
- enjoy it, maybe then it will be dry enough.

When dry, the plastic will shine like crystal.

Try this with a test piece, first.

My (around) 1/12th scale Indy project. I'm on step 5 of about 10,000..

My Coupe project. Step 3 of about 20,000.

Not sure what wheels to use yet..

As for the engine.. I have that covered.

Yo, HAZE PERFORMANCE....

Where the heck did you FIND a 1/12 scale Fiero? Have you got one you wanna get rid of?

Lemme know!

FIEROMASTER...
There's also a spray "fabric" paint that really does look like fabric when it dries. I can't think of the brand name offhand but they usually advertise in Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine. Reports are it's perfect for smaller scales that real fabric doesn't work well on (like 1/32, 1/25, 1/24.)

The more I look at it, It's more like a 1/10th. It was a plastic toy I bought off of ebay. It wasn't an Indy when I got it. I'm converting it..

I get all of Barbies cool sports cars on Ebay and redo them. Currently Im working on painting a Corvette I just got last week to match mine. The white Testa Rossa is a Pocher kit. has all real carpet, seat belts with actual buckles, working shifter, fully working suspension, even working keys in ignition and door locks. I love detail. My F4 RC jet, has working navigation lites, even radar screen inside lites up.

Lots of cool idea's.
Now is there anyone who can help me out?
I need a set of 87 GT wheels in 1/24 scale.
Does anyone know if any of the Fiero models came with an IMSA wrap-around spoiler? If one did, does anyone have a spare?
I have an 85 GT model I am making to look exactly like my 86SE. Right now I'm doing the hood vents. I just need the items above. So if you have spares please Email me.
Thanks,

If you can find one, the wheels in Monogram's
BMW 635csi model has a set of BBS honeycombs which look just like the GT. They're chromed but that's nothing you can't fix. I'll look in my spare parts boxes and see if I have a set. If I find 'em, I'll e-mail you for your address.
