For the people that used the DIY coilovers. (1) What make of struts do most people use? (2) The perch on the Monroe strut looks a lot different than on other struts. Do people take that whole perch off? What would the recommend strut to make coil over from. (1) Monroe or (2) KBY

It will depend on how long your threaded sleeve is as to whether or not you cut off the whole perch. If the sleeve is short, you will need a small portion of it to provide a ledge for the sleeve to sit on. The new springs don't sit on the ledge, they sit on the adjustable collars that rotate up and down the sleeve.
If the sleeve is long, you will need to cut as much of the perch off as is necessary to slide the sleeve over it.
I bought Konis for mine. Haven't done it yet.

I used KYB GR-2's, 7" threaded sleeves & adj collar from A1racing.com, & 10" 'Stance' 325lb Coilover springs on ebay. Now, 10" springs will lower the car a lot, for more adjustability I've heard you should go with 12" springs. & yes I cut the whole perch off.
These are the Monroe struts that I'm talking about. Do you take all the garbage off the strut, I have seen these use with the short sleeve that just set on the perch. I have 7 inch. sleeve and I don't think they will work without cutting off the whole perch all the way to the bottom
Do you cut everything in red or what?

Yeah you have to call all of that off to slide the 7" sleeves all the way down. Be careful not to let the strut get too hot, I moved from one side to the other, not spending too much time in one place. I also cooled the metal off with a wet rag once in a while.
