ok now im confused. Im currently trying to finish up my 3800SC swap and was considering doing an F23 later down the road. Now will i need a spacer for the HTOB or not? Or is it one of those things that will depend? I did get my flywheel from friendofyours.
I love love LOVE my FY1 F23 compared to the 282. I don't have a spacer but I do have a pedal stop, since mattwa blew his htob out. It was a 5 minute thing so its no big deal to have a little security.
well in that case i may get one asap and go ahead and put a good trans in there with my seap instead of using my 4spd. The question is i bought an XTR clutch for my 4spd i assume i cant use it with the F23 correct? If not which clutch do i order for the F23 one for that Trans or for the 5spd fiero? and overall which brand is best to get?

It should work as long as it doesn't look like the one earlier in this thread. Post a picture of it.
Just a warning!! I bought the same clutch for my 3800 swap and when I pulled trans to do f23 swap 1200 miles later one of the puck pads was gone. It may just be my luck but after a proper break in it always slipped under heavy acceleration. I hope you have better luck than me.
well then the question is would it be worth getting another clutch? What other clutch can i get then that will work? Which would be the original question lol
If you go with that one, let us know how it works out. Some people have had problems with XTD clutches, but that might not apply to the Fiero models: http://www.supramania.com/f...ewfull=1#post1597410

Interesting...so if i go for another clutch would the spec be a good option and which trans should i get it for?

Reading some more, some 3000GT twin turbo guys are having great luck and they are NOT just repainted stock parts so I'm not sure whether a Fiero part is. Several of the Stealth/3000GT people are seeing failures around the 7-9000k mile mark though.
Yes and have installed them in a couple dozen other cars. We haven't had any reported issues
Any on 3800 SC's with pulleys and maybe an intercooler? That's what I'm planning to do over the winter. I'd be interested in hearing how well they hold up to lots of torque.

I dropped the cradle today to start the swap. I'm was running a 4spd manual with spec 3+. The first thing I noticed was the clutch springs/ fingers are actually recessed where the stock 4cyl pictured earlier has the springs protruding farther than the pressure plate. My pressure plate measured 2.44". After subtracting the thickness of the ruler and the depth of the clutch fingers I came up with 2.16". So it seems there is about a 3/8" difference. Now with the spec clutch I was actually getting over travel the the clutch reengaged so I installed Rodney's adjustable pushrod and have it as short as possible. I haven't done any measuring of the throw out bearing but if I had to guess I would say in this situation everyone is right. It does need a spacer but can probably get by without one if you install a pedal stop or shorten the pushrod.

I did some more careful measuring and came up with .240". I was hoping to get this done over the weekend but it looks like ill have to wait and order the spacer.
