Anyone ever install a check valve in the trans cooler lines. My cooler is mounted where the battery used to be and I am concerned about drain back when the engine is off. Btw it is cooled with a fan and also receives air from scoop on passenger side.
One of the fitting (forget wich one; return/feed) on the trans coolant lines has a built-in ck-valve. Are you using the stock 4t65 trans line fittings (the part that threads into the case)?

I would scan trans temps once the car is on the road....thinking u will need more cooling for trans other than the cooler u have...unless u are also running radiator cooler in line...

What year engine/trans are you using? I was just reading about this the other day, I think it was something like up to 99-00 the transmission has an internal check valve built in, after that one of the fittings has a check valve.

My 2000 GTP motor/trans has the valve in the fitting... Purchased the motor/trans from maddance here on PFF, said it was a 2k set-up... There is a tag on the trans if anyone needs to know exactly...

Contact Dave @ www.tripleedgeperformance.com and ask him what you should be using. Some years of 4T65-E's had a check valve (ball) in one of the cooler fittings that installed into the case and others did not. If you use the wrong fitting in your trans than what it supposed to have, you could easily trash the transmission.

Eh, that's why I said 'I think'. Looked it up, 97-99 has an internal check ball/valve & 2000+ has a quick connect fitting with the check ball/valve built into it.
But 'I think' I read that 00' was a transition year & might be either way, not sure on that one though, can't find where I read it.

Almost wish mine had the internal ck-valve; as it would allow me to run new line/fittings w/o having to reuse my bent/kinked line

That does suck, I just made my trans cooler lines on my 98' setup, the old lines were bent/kinked on mine too. There's gotta be something you can do on the newer setups.

I looked at the fitting and the way the metal tube fits into it; I couldn't figure anything out. I either have to cut the kinked portion off (making the amount of metal I can secure the hose onto that much less) or I have to locate another line...
Found this trnas cooler line that "should" work w/ the 4t65's cooler fittings; if the ones on yours are kinked and need to be replaces, this lil part will save you from having to purchase a new line...
