So I got my new intake snorkel recently but I am hesitant to put it on until I get my motor to stop bucking back and forth because this is what I believe ripped the last one. Sometime before ending up in my hands someone decided completely disconnecting the dogbone mounting bracket from the motor and leaving it that way was a good idea (along with un-plugging some sensors but we won't get into that). Basically I now need to know what size the bolt that screws into the block was and what size nut goes on the bolt sticking out of the block. As stated in the title this is for a stock 2.8L in a 1987 GT. Thanks in advance!

The dogbone bracket is actually a 2-piece assembly. So in addition to the nut and bolt you mentioned, there's also another bolt that attaches the two halves of the bracket to each other.
When I get a chance, I'll go check the bolt threads.

Thank you both for your help! Once I know the sizes I can head over to home depot and and get this thing re-attached. Then on goes my new intake snorkel so I can get this thing running right!

It looks like all the mounting bracket nuts & bolts are the same size threads: M10 x 1.5mm. That includes the bolt that attaches the two bracket pieces together. The bolts are different lengths, though. I didn't take the time to measure them.
Thank you! I appreciate it I'll measure the depth of the one hole now that I know the thread size. What grade bolts should I get for the replacement hardware? Also is there a certain torque specificaction for the bolt that goes into the motor? Thanks again

Measure all the holes; they're not the same depth. The one closest to the firewall is for a stud that is used to hang the wire harness. Thanks for the link!

Thank you all for the info I found the second half of my bracket in a pile of parts given to me with the car. I had 2 of the 3 bolts for the part that attaches above the water pump. According to my Chilton's manual I am missing the bolt that is different looking but it gives no details on it except for it installs above the other 2 (like the tip of a triangle made up of the 3 holes). Along with that bolt I still need the bolt that screws into the block above the exhaust manifold and the bolt that connects the 2 brackets. Any more details on these would be great! I might be interested in just buying he bolts if anyone has them laying around. Thanks everyone! -Josh
Edit: I found a nut and washer that fit the engines petruding threads (Chilton said this was a bolt but it must be a misprint). I still need the aforementioned 3 bolts though. Thanks

Does your car have A/C? If so, then the forward half of the dogbone bracket (the long thin piece with 3 bolt holes at the end) gets sandwiched between the top A/C bracket and the engine. You'll need 3 long bolts for that. The ones I used were 60mm long. BTW, one of these bolts also holds the oil pressure sender tube, if you have A/C.
If you don't have A/C, the oil pressure sender will be attached directly to the engine block (above the oil filter). And the forward dogbone bracket will be attached to the cylinder head with 3 short bolts (20-25mm long).
On the trunk-side bracket, you have one bolt that also goes through the top of the alternator bracket, then into the cylinder head. That one is about 35-40mm long, if I remember correctly. You also have one short bolt (15-20mm long) that connects the two brackets. And finally, you have the stud on the cyl head with the nut on top.
So to make a long story short, you need three 60mm, one 40mm, and one 20mm bolt if you have A/C, or four 20mm and one 40mm bolt if you don't. I would also suggest getting flanged bolts, or getting washers for them.
