I have a 4.9 notchback had a "custom exhaust" put on during swap. has one pipe on each side. Its time to add some nice tips, my goal is to be as incognito as possible but the current cut off tubes while accomplishing this dont look great. Any suggestions?

Certainly make sure that whatever you get has good chrome on them. I've had too many over the years start peeling when they shouldn't have considering the cost. If you can find any of the OEM ones they tend to last longer. The Corvette tips last a long time and are not flashy, a buddy of mine who has a LS1 in his car has oem corvette tips set back under the bumper a bit further and they look really good.

If budget is a concern, maybe look at some good 2001-2004 -ish Cadillac Deville / Seville tips. You could probably find a real good set pretty cheap. They're a bit flatter than stock 2.8L exhaust, but that to me gives them a more discrete look to them in my opinion.

Heddman HOT TIPS make some good looking chrome dual exhaust tips. They are also resonators and add a bit of sound suppression.

I second the Caddy STS (Northstar) tips.

They're stainless and cost only $11.99 each side at any Pick-N-Pull and they look great on a Fiero!
I put them on all my Fiero's......

If you want something to not stand out, the stock trumpets can be welded on very nicely. They hook up directly to 2" pipe, but if you are larger than 2" you can get a neck down piece at any auto supply.

Nothing is more incognito than the stock megaphone tips! I use them on all my fieros.

You can cut them as they Y at the tips and weld them to the end of a 2 1/2" pipe like this:

I have Rodney's Formula-style stainless exhaust tips on my Formula, I've been real happy with them. They are the same factory design but in polished stainless steel.

Awesome! thanks for the info. one last question. only one side of the 2m4 has a recess for the exhaust. do you think that if its close to the bumper cover on the right side that it could melt it?

I am looking at getting these off Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot...me=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT They are brand new C-6 style in stainless for $69.00. They are similar to the Fiero Store style without the staggered look.

I love my C6 tips. They have had scratches, but I buffed them right out. The stainless is perfect, the chrome tips I have peeled.
I have an LS4 V8 with out mufflers and this is what they sound like. I don't even plan on installing mufflers. The cat and resonator tips are good enough for me.

The camera has a very sensitive mic. The car is not nearly as loud as it seems. If you listen close to the first video you can also hear the radio in the garage.

Now that really is a nice setup, sort of goes with the square but rounded lines of the Fiero, know what I mean... nice tips, but $$$!

If it is too close it will turn it a burnt color and can flake off the paint.

Not to hi-jack, but does anyone have problems with seeing the clamps for the exhaust hanging low behind the tips??

I find this annoying visually when you can see it, because it looks like the exhaust isn't installed right or done half-a$$ed. Is this something that is normal to see on any fiero, including 88s??

88s had different exhaust hangers than 85-87 fieros. Just thought that 88s were mounted a tad higher...

Definitely C6 or similar. The Grand Prix GXP stock tips look similar to the stock Fiero tips even. Those might be worth a go, or even just stock Fiero tips. I have a set of C6 tips waiting to go on my car, with the LS4 swap.
