I want to first say thanks, I have gained a lot of valuable information from this forum about my Pontiac Fiero. Now on with my inquiry. I have an 87 2.5L 4Cy Automatic Fiero. the Wiper Switch has gone bad and AutoZone and all auto parts stores online don't have the product in stock. I don't really feel like paying $100+ for a switch right now from another retailer, so I am looking for a cheap work around. Does anyone have any insight on setting up an alternate switch directly from the Wiper Motor motor fuse? Any info. would be great as I need my car for work and with the snow coming down here I need my wipers to at least turn on.
Thanks a lot everyone
Pics and step by step info is GREATLY appreciated.
Switch, turn/wiper(/cruse) lever, wiper motor, or pulse PC board can be bad. Lever pulls out. See if plastic going into switch is cracked. PC board in the wiper motor.
If switch is bad, usually switch is dead on one speed or all pulse.
I have only had the car for a couple weeks and when I got it the guy said the wiper switch was bad. Basically the wiper lever spins freely so it's not even clicking with the switch inside the column.
Thanks for the fuse/circuit diagram. Now is there an easy way to basically make a mock switch with the provided fuse/wire information?

You will need to locate the wiper swith connector where it comes out of the column and disconnect it. Looks like from there you would put your switch between the white wire (power feed) and purple or grey (depends on speed you want). If you got a "on-off-on" switch you could hook up both speeds. If you want washer pump add a button to feed 12v to the pink wire.
I have not done this myself, just suggesting what might need done based on the diagram
Thanks for the tip, but I am looking for really just a simple mod, (that doesn't involve getting a new switch) so that I can turn wipers on and off that's all I really need at the moment. Something to "get by" until I decide to go out and buy a new switch.

Kragen/O'Reilly's got my switch in one day. $85 for the pulse + tilt. BWD S3474 (if I remember it right). The is for the 87-88 (has the clicks). It also works in the 85-86 cars. There are non-tilt/non-pulse versions too.

You still haven't said whether it's got pulse or not. Only do what Mike has suggested if you have a non-pulse system. If it DOES have pulse, then you can't simply wire a toggle switch between the wires. If you look carefully at the switch itself of the pulse wire diagram, you'll see there's a resistor between the word "lo" on the switch and where it comes out as the grey wire. This resistor is presumably to drop the 12V at the switch to 5V for the solid state box called " Pulse/Speed/Wash Control". If you connect a toggle switch as Mike has suggested to a pulse system, you'll blow your control module and then you'll have even more problems.

I will go check it out when I get out of work, It's a base model 87, on another note how much of a headache is it to change the wiper switch in the column should I have to do that?

How do you check if you have pulse? The turn signal lever is aftermarket so I don' t know for sure.
Aftermarket? could be you problem...
Turn Lever, Non Cruse
Cruse and Non Cruse, Turn Lever, wiper switch end.
