so i just got my first manual Fiero, and while playing around with it i notices that the shifter seems awfully clunky, and inaccurate, and also the front to back shifts are great, but the side to side ones are too tight and seem really difficult. my last long term experience with a manual comes from my 02 celica with a short shifter, so maybe this is just how the Fiero shifters are, but i wonder if there is anything i can do to fix it up. car don't quite run yet, so this is lower on the list of things to fix but it is on the list.

Common problem with the 86-88 V-6 5 speed (Getrag) Fieros. The select cable (left to right movement) is getting tight. This is from heat soak from the engine/exhaust over time. I sell nice replacement cables that have OEM style heat shielding on them.
