Now that I have your attention...can anyone seriously guess what size tires this car is running?? Better yet if anyone recognizes the car. I'm thinking the front tires are 17x8.0 wheels with 225/40s or 45s...but the rears are HUGE!! I'm thinking at least 18x10.0 wheels with 295/40s. But I'm guessing...and the offset has to be in the very low 30s as nothing is sticking out from under the fenders.
Why do I want to know? Because I want this exact look on my project rebuild. I've got cross overs in the rear, and this does not look like a wide body, so I should be able to replicate.
The flames on the hood should be pretty distinctive but I don't know. I suppose the tire width could be photoshopped too, but if they're not... holy hell.

But camera flash reflection in the picture is making it difficult to make out the sizing.
The wheels appear to be true two-piece and on the center cap have a solid yellow stripe going across them, looks to be about 1/4" in width. I don't recall who owned it, but I do not believe they are/were a member here and don't recall where they were from. It had a Northstar in it though.
Here's some pics I took of my pics: (PM me for full size) (I don't have scanner so I took digital pictures of the processed prints).

I know that Fiero belonged to The Fiero Shop in Toronto (Race-Tech). I don't know if they still own the car, but even if they do, I do know that there has been alot of mods to it and it doesn't look like that anymore. But perhaps you can get in contact with them about what kind of wheels those are.

Looks like 18x9's. I have them on my car now and the lip looks the same. the tires are wider off the rim so a 9" rim = 10" on outside. Probable running a 265-40 series tire +/-. Im running a 255-35 on mine and they dont quite bulge from the rim like those., will try to post pics.

by my mesurments 18 to 19x9 35mm offset will fit under the rear with a coilover if you want ten you will need to move the itire out or the srut tower in, if you look at the first pic you can see the angle in the rear weel top leaning into the car because they moved the tower in thats how they made room for the 10s. if you move the strut tower i would use 19x10 with a 60 to 65mm offset

blokcofy if you've got money to burn a friend of a friend owns Forgeline wheels up in dayton, I am pretty sure if you take the car to them they can measure and come up with the absolutely widest wheel you can possibly fit. Since their wheels are 2 or 3 peice the dimensions are infinite. Granted you will have to drop close to a $1,000 a rim.

I've never actually been there, I am trying to get a tour though. I was going to buy a 540i with a set of 19s from Forgeline on it from a friend and he is friends with the owner of Forgeline. They make some sexy wheels, but I just can't justify the cost right now. Aren't you in Cincy rainman?
At the risk of going too far off-topic, lol, yes I am. I work in Montgomery.
If you get a chance to go through forgeline they have a neighbor who does consourse quality corvair restorations. He has some sweet vehicles in there. Can't recall the name of the shop, but its right next door.

This is what they did for the Bumble Bee Fiero. You have to go with Coil overs for this. Held sells Konis that do the job well.

I like it when people talk about my car...hehe.... Yes i still have her...
Joe
Yes Joe, seriously. You have captured the attention of many with your awesome car. Now, are we going to have to BEG to get you to tell us the specs on your tire/wheel setup?? I think you're rims are safe in terms of uniqueness...I just want to duplicate the setup you have in the back! I think it's safe to say, that if we had a contest showing the hottest 20 Fieros in the world, you would easily make the list --> at least you'd get my vote.
So, what's the tire specs? I'll get to the wicked flame paint job later!!

Ok, i'll let my secret out.... well it's not a secret but I'll tell you what I did back in 98... I wanted a wheel package that looked fairly stock but with some attitude. I first measured the front and came up with 17x7.5 with a 215/ 45/ 17 tire. In order to have the proper wheel to fender clearance I purchased and remodified some coil over & tubular "A" arms, by the way the car is an 86 GT. As for the rear I wanted the widest rim with no body mods ( no flairs) I made my own coilovers and did some measuring. The widest rim and the mosy backspacing I came up with 9" on the rear. Back then the best tire size I found that gave me somewhat a overall diameter just a bit bigger than stock was 275/ 40 / 17 and yes the rims are custom 3 peice from SIMMONS... To this day I have a lot of people asking me to sell my rims but the answer will be no... I have found some other companies that will offer what you need to achive this look but in a different rim style....
No I do not have a website and unfortunatly I closed my shop earlier this year but I still deal with fieros and at this moment have several 3800 swaps to do. You can always reach me via e-mail.
Thanks Joe
Any questions please feel free to ask, I would like to help.

Joe, Thanks for sharing your setup with all of us. I really like the look. It's strong and agressive, but nicely subtle. I just want to make sure I've got all the facts straight. Your car's running 275/40-17 rear tires on 17"x9" 3-piece Simmons wheels. Do I have that correct? I also have 3 questions for you. #1 What is the offset on your rear wheels. #2 What brand and model of tire have you been running? #3 Given the wide tires and the relatively light weight of a Fiero, have you had any problems driving on wet roads?
Thanks again for sharing your information, I'm looking forward to applying it to my 1988 GT. Bob

I went with the factory offset, thats the distance the hub or the face of the rims move outward. The backspacing is measurment of how much the rim goes inward towards the strut. I have 7" of backspacing which at 17" rim gives me just enough clearance between the tire and rim. Obviously the coilover allows me to do so.
You have the rim size and tire size correctly.
The tires are the Bridgstone Potenza SO2's
One thing I can say is the car rides amazingly in both dry and wet weather. One year I went to Carlisle P.A. I drove their in 8 hours of rain and almost the same on the way back. at some paoint in N.Y. I got pulled over for speeding.. I think the car handles the way it does due to the alignment which I have it set to stock and the suspension set up.

So that I'm sure, what is the exact offset of your rear Simmons wheels? 17 x 9.0 with ##mm offset? with such a wide wheel, I don't know how you used anything less than 40 to keep the tire within the fender! An exact number would be helpful! Did you alter the placement of the rear struts? I've installed coilovers as well, but still didnt think one could go wider than an 8" wheel! I swear those tires look wider than 275! I would have guessed much wider.

shame on you Joe ... If Mirrame ever reads a post where you say Devilish is yours Id run and hide ! Joes wife had a vision of what her fiero would look, feel and sound like. The Interiour is awsum.. and pretty much unmolested.Joe did an amazing job on the car and to this day it is still one of the best handleing and riding cars ive ever had a ride in. It has won many tropys outside of the Fiero community and Joe and his wife are still making plans for it.
Mirrame and Joe first crossed paths years ago when she brought this car to joe for service and to start creating her vision. Joe has a lot of cool ideas hes considering for an engine swap.... but that a story for joe to tell

You know, despite our rough begginings, dealing with you, I was looking forward to doing some more business, and now you closed . You still have that 6 speed flywheel and clutch combo?

I had a few stacks to ignite, but Ryan at Sinister Performance is using it all up with my LS4 swap and suspension!
I ended up going with a staggered setup with 17 x 7.0 40os w/ 225/45zr17 front and 18 x 8.0 40os w/ 265/35zr18 rears. I don't think it will look anywhere as wide as "black flame", as I still feel he's running wider than he's letting on, based on that picture...either that or that's a wicked shadow!! I got a great deal on Motegi SP7 wheels and Nexen N3000 tires...only $1226 for the whole setup! Keep in mind that I have lowering coilovers and 12" corvette rotors with 88" calipers on my 87" GT.

Well I may have closed the shop, but I still work on Fiero's. I do sell parts and my custom flywheels. At some point next year I'm considering instaling a hoist at home to do some work, while I have a day job. A section of my basement I have all sort of parts and I still have all my parts supplier and machine shop contacts. So I'm really not out of the picture but I do work for a company that does custom work and guess what I'm the person that does it for them...
