I hate the damned things. Sort of off-topic maybe, but I did some online research and tests of my own. Oil bath filters like K&Ns let way more dirt through and have almost no gain on most vehicles because there are worse intake restrictions elsewhere, and all the intake in the world doesn't help if your exhaust can't keep up anyway. Still insist that you need a higher-flowing filter? Get a
bigger one, not a crappier-filtering one, and it will not only improve air flow but
increase filtering instead of letting crap into your engine. Unless you're running a top fuel dragster, it seems like the best thing all around

I was also accused of being a fanboy at best and trying to advertise at worst for saying this before, but the new Amsoil EA air filters (EaA) flow about as well as a K&N but filter almost as well as a paper filter at the same time (which lets in like 1/10 the dirt that oil bath filters let through). Whenever it warms back up a bit so I can get some more miles on the test car, I'll conclude my long-term analysis of this filter vs K&N vs cellulose media.
