Update
I have not been able to get much work done on the eng but now I have some time and would like to get the wiring taken care of.
I finish labeling the C500 harness and most of the C203 but I have some questions.
I will start a new tread hoping that more people will notice.

The project has slow down, I have been pretty busy and the time I've had I was working on another car.
One good thing is that I have most of the wiring sorted out..... I also went to the junkyard and got a 4cyl trottle cable and an alternaltor plug, since the one on the harnes was missing.
Things to do:
Finish wiring
connect coolant system
get fuel lines made
get a/c lines made
get eng and trans cooler connected
assamble axles
exaust
I better get to work.... As soon as I get some more progress I will post updates.
Thanks for the bump

I have a question for you. Where your auto-tentioner is mounted. I've seen it on a couple other swaps but I'm curious what that part is that bends around from the rear of the engine next to the valve cover. Thanks!

On that I have to give credit to Kento, he is the one that came up with the idea.
The part is the Caddy braket that is bolted to the same spot that looks like an "A", I just turn it around, trimmed it, sand and paint.

Madess
I am going with the factory Caddy auto transmission.

How sturdy is it may I ask? Must be quite rigid to hold that tentioner. This is a good idea. I think I may have to do this.

Very Strong, it is heavy steel to start with and it maintains the support ridge in the metal from being a bracket.

I just wanted to keep this out of archives.
The project has been put on hold for a while.
Hopefully I will be able to start working on it soon.

Keep up the good work Lincoln!!

The "A" bracket that Kento made for me has not failed where he used it along with the Mickey Moose tensioner and astro van idler---no belt problems.

Linc: Very nice homebrew swap- BTW my favorite kind. The wiring shouldn't be that hard if you strip the old harnesses down and route each wire "one by one" to where it should be on the Cadillac ECM and on the Fiero chassis connector.
The 4.9L has to be the most cost effective upgrade for the Fiero. It won't offer everything but it's a real improvement over the 2.8L. When you get some bucks together you can always follow Rick Stewarts and Rockcrawls lead on modifications that should get you "Bonzai " performance.

Man I hate it when work aswell as other things get in the way of a good project. When I put my 4.9 on the back burner it fell off the stove. It took 4+ years to get back to it , if I had any idea this car would bee this much fun to drive I would have made time for it a long time ago!!!!! All I can say is to keep at it when you can,and it will get done.Cheers Beers n Gears Joe

Bubba, you might contact John Stricker or Ed Parks - I think there is a wiring harness available for this swap. I'm afraid that getting hold of Rockcrawl (if you need a chip made) might be a problem becuase he seems to be really tied up lately. Good Luck to you ....

Bubba,

I've never done the harnesses, I've always used Ed's, but I can get you schematics for the specific years you're working on if that will help you any.

Great work and thanks to all who have contributed up to this point. Keep all the information coming. I need an education on the work in progress I procured. I find myself scratching my head wondering where this wire goes quite often.

Injection Technology in Arkansas also does the plug n play harness for the 4.9 fiero conversion. I just received mine last week. Runs $700.

He's also producing a plug n play for the 3800 swap if anyone is interested.

We used Ed Park's harness on my wife's 4.9 car-----
my thoughts: Ed charged me 150 bucks to install a new wiring harness on a 3.4 a cpl years ago-----so I think the 4.9 harness is overpriced---however--it is plug n play.
I have two complete 4.9 harnesses in the garage and spending about an hour on the floor with printouts from fieroaddiction.com and the Caddy haynes manual--I had all the connectors and wires labeled with tape tabs. Now, it's a matter of figuring out which wires are needed and which ones can be discarded. To find out which ones go to the c500 I will look at the 2.8 harness. The same applies for the wires which will go to the c300 (dash connections under center console). A few things will need to be sorted out for the clutch safety/ back up lights/ passkey theft deterrent/ etc.
But since I am buying the widebody with 3.2stroked turbo-------I will probably get rid of the second 4.9--provided the 3.2 feels strong.

Not so bad if you paid $100 for a complete running Caddy with a 4.9. So, who cares if it has been bashed in a little? $800 for a swap? Not bad at all.
