I've been trying to figure out why I don't have reverse lights; bulb's not out and the fuse is good... is it a short or something more sinister...

4 speed or 5 speed? does the shifter stay in the gate, or do you have to "Hold" it there?

You need to find the switch...4 speed is next to the shifter, 5 speed and Auto are on the transmission I think...

First find the VSS on the transmission.
Follow the wires back to the harness. When the harness is found, follow the wires that continue to the left side of the car (drivers side). There should be a two wire plug found there. At the other end is the reverse light switch.

Its kind of hard to get a wrench on it but it dose come out (to test it just pull it out and push the ball in with your fingers and check your lights with IGN. on

The harness for the reverse lights is just below the shift linkage on the Getrag trans. See the lead on the pic? Disconnect this lead from the harness and put a jumper wire in the car side of the harness, not the trans side of the harness. Turn on the ign, no need to start the car, and see if your rev lights come on. Assuming that you know the bulbs are good, if the lights are on, replace the short pigtail harness coming off the trans. This pigtail is screwed into the trans and contains the actual switch.

The lead in this pic is somewhat hard to see because it is painted silver as is the trans.

Hope this helps you out.

Edit bee coz I kant spel korectley
