Im sure that this has been asked many times but I did see anything on seat skin removal. I am selling my seat skins but am not sure how to take them off without damaging them. If somebody could tell me how to do this I would appreciate it.

After the seat is out of the car, remove the plastic side cover (2 screws) and take off the bolts holding the seat back and bottom together (torx on one side and two hex heads on the other). For the seat bottom, lay it upside down and remove the 4 bolts holding the tracks - you'll have to push the release lever and slide the tracks to get all four. You'll now see that the seat skins are held by "hog rings". Just cut/twist these off with side cutters or pliers to loosen the flaps. CAREFULLY pull the edges of the cover up over the seat bottom but do not try to pull it off yet - it is still attached to the top of the seat bottom. You'll see that hog rings are also attached near the back on top of the seat - remove these. You'll also see that toward the front of the seat, hog rings are holding onto the looped ends of "listing rods" - one on the right and left. After removing the hog rings, carefully pull the listing rods forward - the seat bottom skin should now be free. For the seat back, unzip the zipper at the bottom. Remove the hog rings holding the flaps under the zipper that are now visible. There are also listing rods in the front side of the seat back - remove the hog rings so that you can pull them out (you may be able to roll the seat cover up a few inches (carefully) to gain access to these listing rods. Remove the hog rings that hold these rods in and carefully pull the rods down/out. Now pull the cover up until you see the flap that is held by hog rings at the base (front) of the headrest - remove these and the skin should be free. I think this is pretty comprehensive, but be slow and careful as you go. Good luck!

You can find hog rings & hog ring pliers at a farm store or Eastwoods. Hog rings are used in fencing.
