yeah a 2-to-1 ram tube can be done - it would be easier to mock it up and then wrap it in kevlar composite (added bonus of kevlars insulating properties)

there are a bunch of options of things i could make for you - i'll toss out a few sketches sunday while we are at the track

Very coo! Sorry, Kohburn, but Tina is alread "da Man".

I'll get with you on Sunday to weigh the options. I will prop the hatch open on the ride down to see if that helps. Of course, this 95 degree weather isn't helping too much either.

I have a single electric fan on the 4-core radiator. Maybe I should put on a double fan?

I just read today (Lingenfelter's Chevy V8 book) that anything over 250 degrees is bad for regular motor oil, but synthetic can take higher temps. Mine went up to 260 for a couple of miles today, so I don't want to chance it again. I can't run synthetic yet as there are only 120 miles on the engine.

I'll be leaving the hatch propped open next timefor some extra air. I need to order some tubing soon!

The Airaid carb kit seems plenty big! Looks like a good starting place for a carbed Fiero cold air setup.

Are you sure your coolant is properly bled, might be air in the system and you may need a lower temp thermostat. SC3800 use 160 stats, but 180 should do you fine. Also, make sure your fans are kicking on. I know you have a digital dash, are you sure the temp reading is accurate?

The highest hose in the system has coolant in it, so I think the system is full, but I guess there are other hiding places. Is the thermostat on an SBC located where the top coolant hose connects? If it has one, it must be over 200 degrees since the temp goes to 220 and stays there until the engine bay temp goes up.

The fan is constantly on - one of the shortcuts by GT40Cory. I'll work on that one.

Thanks Daniel!

Now I just need enough pipe to get it across the engine and down to the wheelwell.

At the moment, the Air gap.

Rather than explaining on where you run into clearance issues, I just marked some of the areas with a red X.
Height clearance is also a issue depending on what decklid/ scoop you are going with.
The way it sits right now it just barely clears the Mopar 6 pack.

...another thing ... the torque flex, unless of course yours is already solid mounted.

Tina

Saxman, I wish I took a picture last year of my cold air intake I ran.
Pretty much boiled down to though ....Airfilter behind the quarter panel > 3 inch diameter pipe (just long enough to get past the frame)
> flexible airplane tubing (routed in a way to avoid the bigger hot spots) > plastic carbhat.
I could of went with metal tubing all the way, but metal absorbs heat> warmer air> unhappy car> less horsies.

Tina, plastic sounds like the right way to go, but I may be willing to lose some power for better looking intakes in chrome.

It's called airplane tubing? Great. The work starts next week!

Are you kidding ...
I can't even get frosting to stick on a cake.

Seriously, ... I just got done making a new set of wires for the car yesterday night, tomorrow the trans fluid, coil and MSD
are on the list. I battled with those stupid Lambo hinges for what seemed forever.
Do I do all the work myself, no. I realized a long time ago, sometime the smartest thing to do, is to step aside and admit that another person can do something a lot better than you.

Very impressive, Tina. I'll lok for info on your Lambo doors. Do you really like them?

I'll be hooking up with Kohburn, LilDevil and Soulcrusher tomorrow, along with some other Fiero masters (and 1 Fiero loser). We'll figure out a way to get some cold air into this beast!

If you find a good source for the 3.5" hose please post!
