I want to get a chin spoiler, but I want some info first. How low is it?. Anybody have one and there car lowered, is it a problem? Which style/company do you have? Does it help? Was it completely bolt on our did it take modifying? Any impressions and insights are welcome. pictures would be helpful.

yeah it'd scrape sometimes and cracked a few times untill i repaired it once using kevlar instead of glass, and used a flexible body putty instead of epoxy.. after that it flexed enough to not get damaged.
I have one on my 86 GT. Took it off a 92 Taurus. Not as big as those pictured but I feel some difference. A little more stable at highway speeds. And I haven't any problems with ground clearance.

The spoiler has been wrecked twice. Once from a racoon and the second from a curb too high. The car is lowered approximetely two inches. If you get one, be prepared to know the streets in which you will be traveling. Ed

well it is removeable - you can leave it off for daily driving and put it on for shows - or you can give it to me so i can make a version thats not quite as low to the ground

i have this one and the first one will showed cut open and molded to the facia almost the same way. i think the fiero warehouse one looks better in a sophisticated way i guess, and the one with the big opening is more agreesive looking. can't say if i notice a difference bettween the two as far as how they effect stability though.
micheal smith's nose is by far the best I have seen to date. It looks stock and the ride height looks awesome, BUT he never said if it was actually functional. I like the closed mouth spoilers like the fiero warehouse sells but I don't like fiberglass.
I wish somebody would make a closed mouth urethane spoiler.
Anybody have comments as far as high speed stability?
What about the upside down method? Anybody have experience with that?

I saw the skitime airdam mod awhile ago. Does the Skitime airdam actually do anything functional? I was thinking about doing it but didn't understand how to get it mounted. I like that method alot. Would i have to remove my bumper to add the upside down part?

I have the upside down "Lawrence/Skitime" chin spoiler and even though it's not painted yet, I prefer it over any fiberglass spoiler. It would have been cracked about ten times by now if it wasn't flexible.
Edit: the front bumper does not have to be removed to mount the upside down part. Just use screws, bolts, rivets or whatever to hold it up. You can reach up from underneath to access the interior part of the front fascia. Then trim to your satisfaction. ------------------ 88 GT T-Top, 88 Fastback Chop-top (Archie #14), 1984 Indy, and 88 Chop Top T-top Firebird Interior Installation Website

If you post a "ripped GT fascia wanted" ad in the mall I'm sure some people have one in their garage. I have another ripped fascia but I want to hold onto it in case I decide to do another one.
Thanks scott I didn't think it was that easy. I have a spare gt bumper on my parts car. I will be doing that mod very soon. Have you noticed any difference in high speed stability with the skitime mod?
the big stability improvement with the open mounthed chin spoiler is that it is molded all the way to the radiator - basicly all that air gets rammed through the radiator - and if you have a hood vent then it goes flowing up over the hood - drastic improvement in downforce - without a hood vent the headlight doors will sometimes pop open as a semi passes you going the other way.

Is it just me, or does this general type of chin spoiler not look right on a Fiero... It's like the line from "Me, Myself, and Irene"... "Look, daddy got a butt on his chin!"... The car looks way to chin heavy. It's not a front engine car, it shouldn't have the "visual mass" of a front engine car like a Camaro does.

I have a pretty small hood scoop with a 6x6 hole for my air passage. I will be widening the hole by about 4 inches and I thought a chin spoiler would be a good addition to the downforce of the front end. So I take it that a chin spoiler would only add to looks. I will upgrading to a 16"Lx12"L scoop. The scoop I have now is 10"Lx8"L. I will do the skitime bumper because it looks good and it looks like general consensus says the chin spoiler is for looks and the hood scoop is for function.

i agree with will. its a mid engine car with the extra chin it adds a few inches to the nose and makes it look like a front engine car. i think we need a hole new front clip that makes the front end slow more and faster.

That chin spoiler also makes the Fiero look more aggressive and I'm baffled how this is even a point for discussion because the piece serves the same purpose regardless if it is on a front/mid or rear engine car. BTW Most people think the engine is upfront anyway.

Hmm...this is called, "modify the heck out of it" chin spoiler using Fier Warehouse closed mouth spoiler.
I like how you left it open in the middle. I want to do something like that to my GT, I hate how long the nose is on the Fiero and also would like to do something about that too.
