You guys may remember me from these swaps:

My 3800SC Citation http://home.attbi.com/~tmccload/

My 4.9L PFI V8 Citation X-11 http://home.attbi.com/~tdaniely/new_page_2.htm

The 5.0L ASG (Based on 4.9L) Lumina Z-34 http://home.attbi.com/~thirddatadrive/

The 5.7L LT4 Buick Regal http://home.attbi.com/~seconddatadrive/REGAL/

Anyhow, the question is, WHERE THE HECK ARE ALL THE PHOTOS RE: NORTHSTAR FIERO's ????

I haven't seen anyone post pics of how to mount this booger to the cradle.

I have an 84' X-11 (http://home.attbi.com/~thirddatadrive/MY_RIDES/84_exterior.html ) that is just itching to get a Northstar that I have the chance of aquiring.

ANY help (photos and facts, NOT opinions or gossip) would be MOST appreciated.

PS - Keep in mind, I always use Fiero mounts and brackets, as well as CV axles on all my Citation / X-11 swaps, therefore, it is indeed related to this forum.

Thanks a million, in advance.

Nice work on your cars tdaniely, and I like the documentation as well.

The Northstar swap has been done in quite a few Fieros. I do not know who's documented the swap.

Personally, If I'd put a 300 horsepower, 32 valve V8 in the back of a Fiero, I'd have photos of the entire install out the WAZOO !!!!

I see two photos of Northstar Fiero's in the "GALLERY" section.

See if you can find info on Chris Moore (PFF MEMBER) i think his handle on here is northstar87 he has build 5-6 northstar powered fiero's i think, he is a ASE master technition. he had his northstar powered fiero on ebay alittle bit ago, its a convertible/targa. There are 5-10 members here that either have a northstar fiero or are building one, Im with you, there should be alot of pictures.

BTW how much would you charge to put a 3.4L tdc or a 3800 s/c in a fiero? ive got both automatic and stick shift fiero's so that wont make any change. and cost on a 4.9L fiero. Or do you just do the swaps for yourself.

You, sir, are insane.

I'll bet that Lumina has torque steer out the wazoo!

You have gained my admiration, respect and reverence with your swaps. Keep up the good work!

Actually it doesn't torque steer at all. The Lumina's Getrag HM284 has equal length axles and that setup was retained with the ASG swap.

As far as being insane, that is a genuine compliment

I have some photos, but they're in a computer 900 miles away right now.

Have you read my description of how I mounted my engine? What else would you like to know?

At the time I installed my engine I had very limited time and didn't have ready access to a digital camera. Getting the engine in and running took priority over documenting the swap. I'd change half a dozen things about it anyway if I had it to do over again.
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20020825-2-017228.html

To do this again, I'd use an entirely stock Caddy forward engine mount bracket and just angle the new Xmember slightly aft to bolt the mount directly to it. Be sure to weld the new X-member in before you cut the old one out.

Thanks for that other thread. That's pretty much what I wanted to know. The pics would still be nice when you get the chance to obtain them.

Of course some people may find this as a crude way to compare, but who cares.

I've taken a photo of BOTH the Northstar and the 4.9L PFI (which I've already swapped before) and resized them according to the fact that they BOTH use the same crank pulley.

This is just for the record. I am making notes trying to see if I will run into fit problems with the Northstar in the Citation's engine bay.

The Northstar is the TOP photo. The 4.9L PFI is the lower photo. I believe the Northstar's alternator position could be a hang up. The X-11 that this swap will take place on is a NON A/C car from the factory, therefore, I can relocated the radiator to where the condenser is NORMALLY located. (of course you lucky Fiero guys don't have to worry about that, do you ?)

Did you take that picture of the Northstar? If you did, try taking it again with the camera further back and with more zoom. There's a noticeable amount of fish-eye in that picture. You'd probably get betting results with a "flatter" picture.

The Northstar photo was NOT taken with my Olympus camera, however, the 4.9L PFI Photo was.

The Olympus has always given me good quality pics.

I was looking back through and noticed I never commented on the alternator. With the engine in the stock location, the alternator has ~1/2" between it and the firewall. Ripping the insulation stuff off the firewall is a must.

Thanks for the extra tidbit of information. If you have any new photos coming up, I'd be interested in seeing them. The time is drawing near for my swap . . .

These were pics taken after we completed Keith Huff's Northstar, although the sparkplug wires and such are a little crude, this was done simply to drive the car onto the trailer for it's trip down to the paint shop.....
