My 87 Fiero GT with only 40k miles on it burned to a crisp this evening. Long story. Bottom line, I need another one. Qualifications 86.5 to 88 GT with 4 or 5 spd....prefer 5 spd. Must be loaded with options. Lowered and tall wheels a plus. Of course prefer lower mileage but will look at all. Preferred colors red or white but not all that important. Don't show me cars that need alot of work unless the price is very cheap. T-tops a major plus....obviously. Engine swap ok depending on which engine. 3800 or 3800sc preferred. Car close to me in Virginia a MAJOR plus......but I seldom ever see any. Price? Consider all. OK GUYS AND GALS........SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!!!!!!!!!
Phil

Ok I give up., what is it on the Fieros that causes them to just "burn up"? what actually catches fire, and why. Its not like the engine is surrounded by old dry newspapers and rags or somthing.. what actually starts on fire? the rubber plug wires? oil leaks?..

I'm dying to know too. As much as I feel for your loss, I'm sure many members would like to know what happened so as to prevent another disaster. Please, do tell.

Sorry to hear of your loss, I would be pi$$ed off if that happened to me.
Not many F's here in St. Louis. Altough I did see a yellow GT that was for sale last fall....I'll see if it's still for sale and get some info on it if it is.

STUPIDITY! That's what caught it on fire. I stopped on a back road and got stuck and the cat caught the leaves on fire. It was toast in about 5 min. I loved that car!

totally burned to the ground??? That is how I got my 88GT. GT DUDE think about a total ground up restoration. I mean as much as you know about GM and such it should be no problem for ya!! Look at Archie,he took that stinger down to the frame and painted it very nicely !! Sure it will take a while, but with all the help in here you should have no problem bringing her back and better than before!! think about it! I will help ya if need be.

That totally sucks. Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you were insured.
The only nice GT I know of is the one that Fierodave, in Wisconsin, has for sale. It's medium red and looks absolutely beautiful in the pics. It's an automatic, though.
You might contact Doug Kinney (007DOUG) at Fiero Warehouse. He usually has some nice cars, or may be able to run one down for you. I've dealt with him before. I'd recommend him.
Best of luck in your search.

GTDude, I know you said GT, but Rockcrawl has a pretty sweet blue 87 coupe with a Caddy V8 and a nice overdrive auto in it......probably not your bag, but I just figured I'd throw it out there....location = PA.

Hoooooooly crap... man, I'm sorry to hear about that...
I know it doesn't help the situation any, but I'm glad the cause of the fire is definitely identified, so the rest of us don't have yet another possible hidden 'total-loss' gremlin to worry about...
Hopefully the insurance company will cough up a big, fat check so you can get something as nice or even better...

I remember when they first came out with catylitic converters, they warned you about parking on grass or leaves. I almost burned up a Lincoln Town Car. Sorry to see your car gone, dont look like anything survived. Hopefully insurance will get you another one.
