That's sad to hear. My car caught on fire due to melting wires, but my husband noticed the car was acting up strangly and there was fire comming out of the engine vents on top. He put the fire out and little damage was done. Also parking by a tree doesn't help a fire hazard too. But thats another issue. Does anybody know where i can find wire harnesses for my car. I also need a good intruction manual to go with it. I would truly appreciate the info. Thanx.

There is nothing on this car that is any good. Wheels are melted, as is intake manifold......which to me means the engine got extremely hot.....melted pistons or rings that have lost tension.....burned valve seals, etc. Anyway the ins. co. has already picked it up. Guy who picked it up said that the ins. co. wouldn't even try to sell anything off of it.

i had an engine compartment fire in my 84 2m4 - real stupid forget to rehook the fuel line after a fuel filter change. HOWEVER a fire extinguisher in the spare tire compartment saved the day - now back running and awaiting a paint job on deck lid in spring.
