Thanks, FIERO JOHN-WI, for speaking in my place, and for letting me know that this good 'ol thread has come alive again. I'll try to add to the discussion. WampusCat, aside from the last fiero made (#26,402), the newest car currently in the database was #26,384, a Red GT. Of course, now that honor goes to GtGeff! Concerning when a car was built: There should be a paper sticker on top of the ALDL connector (behind the cig lighter cover) which has a date on it (Day/Month/Year). I assume this is either the date of the car assembly, or possibly when the wiring harness was assembled (gotta be the car assembly date, don't you think?). Now, if the center console has been removed a few times, this piece of paper may have been removed or may have slipped around some, but there's a fair chance it's still there. GTGeff, if you get a chance, look in there and see what date is on your's. I'll bet it's 8/16/88. There's a whole lot of new, good VIN info here from WampusCat, L67Formula, GTGeff, SLYGUY, tgowens, Mickey_Moose and RossT. Let me ask everyone who has a VIN for me to send me an email with your car(S) particulars, including the VIN, exterior and interior color and tranny option, and I'll enter the info into the Database. I'm happy to get any info you might want to send, including mods, options, owner info etc, but will be glad to get the VIN and other info if possible (if you only have the VIN, then that's great too). You can write me at John.Willhoff@LMCO.com, and when I get all the info put into the database, hopefully this weekend, I'll post some info on how many cars we have in there (should be around 3000 of them).
Look forward to getting your emails, keep those cars arollin'!

As of 1/7/02: -Mileage 47,800.9 -No Modifications.(This one will stay that way!) -Excellent condition. The original owner in Kentucky did his research before buying in Fall of 1988. He knew what he had. Took great care of it. -I purchased March 2001 from him.
For now I am content with build date of 8/15 or 8/16 off of "Build Sheet" "Target Wk." If its not broke, I don't fix it so I will not go into console unless for other reasons. I will then check date on lighter.
I would still be interested in any information you can shed on Factory Installed Fog Lights. Reference my earlier posts above. Thanks to you and Fiero John-WI for all the info. Much appreciated. Jeff

My GT also has factory installed fog lights. Any idea on numbers of similar equipped 88s?
Can you post a picture of your fog light switch?
When adding options to my cars,I always want to do it in the same way that the factory would have done, so this is awesome information for me to finally find out... also, if you can, post a pic of the driving lights and where/how they are mounted as well?
Thanks *very* much in advance...

Unfortunately, I do not own or have access to a digital camera. I would be happy to take old fashions pictures and mail to an address. Feel free to PM me. The gray rocker switch and black backpanel texturing looks identical to the Rear Deck Release above it except it says "ON" & "OFF" and has a molded raised border around it.
The lights are mounted inside the air intake for the radiator. They work okay but their effectiveness is limited by the front license plate holder. Still looks cool.
A guy in the Minnesota Club just ordered the fogs from GM. Find a parts book and you should be able to get everything you need including the mounting bracket info.

John, I'll email you tomorrow with full info on #00644 and #17734 unless you already have them.

p.s. What is the earliest car in the database? I just realized mine is pretty early. I still need to forward the same info to Ray Paulk, it must have been one of the first CJB cars.

Ok, so can you tell me how rare mine is? I've got a red 88 4 cyl. with no options, except the sunroof. It doesn't even have tilt steering. Oh, it does have alloy rims, I don't know if they used any hubcaps on the fiero's though. The vin is 1G2PE11R8JP217442 If anyone has carfax I'd be interested in what the report says, you can email me at invisiblefrisbee@yahoo.com
WOW what a thread! I would like to see (own) that book on 88's when it you print it. Make sure you get Ben's (artherd) info on his two FORM's, and no Ben, a N* was not a factory option
Production # on my FORM is: 00438 VIN: 1G2PE1199JP200438 Black exterior (I think, it has been repainted somewhere in the history) Grey interior Automatic
CC,PW,PL,tilt... and not much else. But I love her
Don't know any history other than I think I am owner #4, and she's still got a long way to go before I am happy. If you need something else... LMK or if you've got any intrigueing info, just share it. Thanks!

I gotta another '88 FORM for you. I called State Farm today and had them pull the VIN from my deceased '88 FORM that was totalled in a T-boner back in '98. Damn I miss that car. It was a paint job away from perfect, and then smack!
1G2PE1199JP212914 automatic black (fairly certain, but it had also been repainted) interior was grey PW/PL/CC/tilt.
It's like I bought it's twin brother a few years later.

Thanks everyone for all the good '88 info. I'm in the process of updating the database right now, so will add all this good stuff and see how many we have. As of yesterday, we had some type of info on 2824 Fieros! With the contributions here, and another BIG bunch from FIERO JOHN - WI, we have a good shot at topping 2900 cars.
If you would like a summary of the cars in the database, email me at John.Willhoff@LMCO.com and I'll do my best to send you one tomorrow. It shows the distribution of colors throughout the fiero production run, and gives some percentages for colors of cars in the database.
Once again, anybody with info on any '88 fiero, present (thanks GTGeff, voyagerspe, rockcrawl,gggg-us, blakeinspace,fiero_sc) or past (way to go, blakeinspace - sorry to hear about your poor car, but it's passing WILL now be noted), they are incouraged to drop me a line with the vital statistics (factory colors, tranny type, status, and anything else you care to add).
