Hey, I don't want to enter the MR2/Fiero argument... (Man, do you guys get bent out of shape on both sides!!!)

What I would like to know is has anyone ever seen a Small Block Chevy MR2? Seriously. I park next to an older one at work usually, and looking at it, it seems that someone would have done it by now. Anyone ever seen one, all MR2-bashing aside?

Don't get me wrong, I have an '88 Fiero GT and am sticking with Pontiac. But I'm alwayst looking for that next 'sleeper' car...

You scared me, man! I thought that someone was re-igniting this flame

It's been done, I think, but I can see many problems. The MR2 is very tiny. I don't think the frame would stand up to it. Nor do I think you could get away with it without some serious chopping.

I had a 1969 camaro, It was fast, but you know what.i sold it to buy my Fiero and some old beer signs and cans . the Fiero is only an 84 with 36000 miles, but I enjoy it alot better than my 8 mile per gallon straight line runner.the Fiero is just a better car in my opinion, for whippping through curves and enjoying the ride. The 69 was great ,but I dont even think about it any more.Love my Fiero and I want to buy another.Hence the name Camaro2Fiero

kwick note: .89g skidpad would be the SS. (or firehawk or one of those)
That's the number I carry around in that little brainbox of mine anyways

The new MR2 looks to be a fun / interesting handling machine ... not avail in Canada though.
(also 118feet 60-0, nice brakes dude !)

I hate to re-ignite this "Fiero-vs-MR2" war...but I read the whole thread... most everything sounds good and accurate and interesting.

Here's just a few of my thoughts (or facts)

SPEED - which is faster? compare the right models!
4cyl na fiero -vs- any mr2 = mr2 win
v6 fiero -vs- 4cyl mr2 mki na = fiero win
v6 fiero -vs- 4cyl mr2 mki SC = mr2 win
...so what i'm saying...they are close, some are faster tan others, but it depends which models u mean.

POTENTIAL - definitely goes to fiero for the big hot rod following it has... amazing

Everything else... most fun, best looking, is all opinion.

Also not to start up the flame again just wanted to post my thoughts!!!

Well I know first hand that a 1987 Iroc 5.7liter (350) will dance all over a 87 Fiero GT.

Shortly after I got my 87 GT my brother (who owns a 5.7 Iroc) and I went out for a little run on the back roads near his hous and he dominated my little fiero on take off speed and acceleration.

Well in regards to handling my brothers Iroc stood no chance (I stuck right with him on the twists and turns) and at a few spots if road conditions would have allowed it I could have passed him. I asked him after we got back to his place what he though (he is a die hard camaro man) and he said he was impressed with the cornering but then made excusses about "how he isn't as young and foolish as he once was". Yeah right your beloved Camaro just don't handle as good as you thought I told him!

Bottom line is...... I wouldn't be afraid to put my 87 Gt up against anything on a back "turny" road.

I've only seen ONE MR2. They look very boxy, not very curvy. But definitely looks like a Fiero wannabe. I saw the car three times though.

That's what I was gonna say. Thanks AusFiero!

You don't get the same rumble from a screaming 4 banger. No bass.

The Fiero feels more luxurious, especially the GT hence the Gran Turismo moniker.

Just my $.02

You are right on there! The 2.8L v6 has a really nice sound IMO, better than most other v6's I've heard... No 4cyl can challange it there at all.

More luxurious? I have never been inside a GT fiero but was inside my friends 86 the other day (coupe?) and it is GHETTO. I was expecting a bit more, again comparing to an MKI MR2's interior, but was rewarded with a 1980 datsun interior. Does anyone have some pictures of the GT's interior, it's gotta be better or no?

Aren't the interior of the coupes and GTs exactly alike?

Some interior are better kept than other. My 84SE interior is pretty clean. And I intend to keep it that way! Perhaps change carpet, new FIERO floormats, something like that. The neatness of the interior is all up to the owner.

Yeah I thought that as well.
I was in an 84 4cyl. and I also use to own 1986 SE 2.8 and now an 87 GT and the interiors are all but the same minus the steering wheels, buttons, gauges and coloring of the carpet. Heck a Corvette or even a Lambo's interior could look like a ghetto if the owner don't take care of it!

Heck I love the look of the fiero's interior...I never seen the Mr2 interior I'm gonna have to look at one some time.

I'll save you the trouble. The Mk.1's look like they're out of a Corolla. The Mk.2's look like they came out of a Celica(same era)All of the Mr2 interiors I've ever seen were "BLACK" including the MR Spyder.

Fieros wantabe a MR2...Fieros look like MR2's...?????

As I seem to recall the Fiero came out first...so that would make the MR2 looks like the Fiero and wants to be like one

just my 2 cents
