I would like to add about the "Flames" threads. It grows about a new page a day. If everybody would quit posting it will go away. Please let it die. I quit reading all that BS. Enough is enough.

It isn't the person who starts a thread who makes it what it is. If you ask me the "crap" is coming from a different source.

BTW: Welcome back Cardealer. Can't wait to see what you have been up to.

Sorry about the mess. Try not to step in the "crap" threads.

I like it here. I joined forever ago, but I've been away for awhile. Coming back after several years is like returning home after moving away.
Different faces and names, but still an interesting read and helpful people willing to share their experience(s) with you.
I could spend hours on here just reading all of the stuff people have to share and say. Some of it is just plain stupid and a immature, but there is always a lot of good stuff on here to pick through.
Sure, we all ***** at each other now and then, but it is part of being a family, of sorts.
I look at it this way: without all of the mud slinging that occasionally happens, this would be a pretty boring place, don't you think?

I've said it before; I am a member of several different automobile forums and this one is BY FAR the most active forum I have ever seen.
Amazing, especially when you consider the Fiero is over 20 years old.

To me, that makes this forum just a special as it always has been.
cardealer MAR 17, 11:56 PM
Well its good to hear from some old fiero friends. I think with a little time and some encourging posts made instead of bashing this forum could be what it once was, atleast in my eyes.

To answer some of the pms on what Im been up to=
As most of my little projects that I take on they aways tend to go a little extreme than what was planed. I aways start out with just saying I just want a little cruiser car then next thing I know Im trying to reinvent the wheel and do something completely insane or just plane stupid. And thats kinda what happened on the black fiero, when its was done it was just to too insane to drive anywhere and just stupidly unsafe to race.

So I just sold my prostreet s10 a few months ago that I put the engine in from the black fiero into (I have some really good pics of it hiked-up on its rear tires on a 10.88 pass) and been itching for something else. I guess I got tired of seeing 50 other v8 s10's everywhere I went so I starting looking for something else to do. Since Im kinda old school I wanted something like a vega or monza since I had both as hotrods a long time ago. But I couldnt find anything Iiked, so I ran across this old fiero ('86) gt all ripped apart and infested with mice just rotting away. Dragged her home and said I just want a little street cruiser....... This time I stuck to my guns and an got an old 4.9 and put it all in and all is good. Well sort of, even though I learned alot on wiring, and just general obd stuff, the car is just boring.......Sure it runs good but it just aint going to keep me excited, and even though I think I did a pretty clean install its just an ugly engine. All those wires, hoses, ect, (uck for me) just not my thing....

So in my very weird dealings, always buying and selling and trading cars, parts, chickens, or anything that I happen upon, I have ended up with three great engines. And when I say great I mean great!!!!!! For what turned out to be 3 days worth of work I ended up with a all aluminum 427ci small block crate motor that came from Hardcore Racing. A great Powerglide, with converter, shifter, gages, just a ton of stuff. The motor suffered what turned out to be a bad wrist pin after the guy drove it to Houston from Austin and back. But its under the knife right now and waiting a final plan on which direction I going with the motor. On a different deal I got a complete SB2 motor that has a rod knocking, but still worth a ton of money. And finally a fresh aluminum headed 406 sbc engine that I took on a trade for a car, the motor supposed to pretty high dollar nitrous motor.

So this is where I will start getting tons of negitive ratings and get shot at, but I bought a '84 fiero and making a front engine prostreet car out of it...... There I said it, its like a weight lifted off my chest now. I got the car stripped down to the frame and the new frame rails measured and cut and tacked and the main hoop of the cage done. And have a jig made to start on the narrowed rear end placement. So the plan WAS to put have the piston fixed in the 427 which is really under warrenty through Hardcore but I would have to ship the whole engine to get it fixed. But I could just fix it here and use it in the 84 prostreet. But just yesterday a pretty nice 88 gt with a bad engine shows up on craigslist. Needless to say I now own 3 fieros, wierd seeing I really wanted a vega or something...... But anyway, those gears up in my head started turning. Im now thinking about using the 88 for the base of the prostreet instead of the 84. Since its a much nicer style of car (my eyes) and put all new lower compression pistons in the 427 and put the procharger thats on my avalanche on it. I would loose all the work that I did to the 84 so far but in the end it would make for a much nicer car. And maybe put the 406 in the 84? But who knows I might end up with a rocket motor in the back before its all over. Either way I will make a choice in the next couple of days and get back to work on it as I have a pretty short window until my business gets insane again this summer.

Well thats about it on the fiero side for now.

Falcon- Yes that was my car way back when. Why did you have to post that pic? Its kinda like when your 7 years old, with half your teeth missing and get a really bad hair cut and your mom gets your photo taken. Thoses kinda pics just always come back to haunt you........ Well maybe it just only happens to me.... Post a pic of my old black car from the next year round up.

This thread was started in 2004 by "California Kid". Guess who started the flamebaits on page one? Hint: Check the "redness" in the bar.

Great example. That was the first ever thread from the TD&Q section going to the Trash Can. First ever after 8 years. Thanks for finding that thread. Also, weren't you involved in that thread too?

Are you serious? Yes, that thread was started by California Kid, but just because he started it, doesn't mean he caused the flamewar. Check on page one who started the flamewar. The flashing red bar is a great hint.

Wow, any older threads and I need to learn old-english. This is a thread from 2003. That's 5 years ago! And with 326 posts to his name since january 2001, you can hardly call him a "loyal pff-er" now can you?

Wait, wasn't your point to prove that (quote) these "crap" threads are all started by the "loyal pff'ers" (unquote)? All you did was prove my point.

imo it comes from two sources..

class of culture - the "older" folks keep getting older and there are new young'ns every year with this little affordable fun car. the age ranges practicly speak different languages and online etiquet is lost in translation. what the you kids think is just online banter can be offensive to the older folks.

secondly - too much ego bumping bs - it seems its the popular thing to do. false claims, and general non-sense. in face to face discussion people are less likely to make false claims, and when they do the audience either laughs it off or confronts the person and they back down. online this turns into a flame war as the person making false claims or spouting off non-sense fights to maintain supporters and "win" while two groups of people confront them. the polite ones with technical data proving them wrong, and the ones that mock them like the last kid to get picked for kickball.

those two things can pretty much sum up all the issues that have happened over the many years. problem is that the long time members tend to get fed up and leave.

but just because he started it, doesn't mean he caused the flamewar

All I meant by saying what I said was the fact that they did start things... I was never trying to point blame for threads turning bad, but I just pointed out that the threads that do turn bad are threads that originate around people that have "high credentials"

Well, now you did it. I was going to say "at least you did it to an 84" but then you had to start talking about cutting up an 88. I think the standard punishment for building a ProStreet Fiero is two broken legs but cutting into an 88 is more like cement shoes.

Seriously though glad that you decided to come back and share what you are up to. You could of course continue on your path with the 84 chassis and put the body panels from the 88 on it. You would definetly be able to find someone interested in the 88 chassis if you went that route.
